Job Description:
We are seeking a highly organized and experienced Food Handling Senior Program Advisor to support our company's food handling program with strategy, program development and execution. This role directly support the TravelCenters of America, TA, TA Express and Petro brands. The ideal candidate will be integral to ensure that all food products are handled in compliance with food safety and quality standards. They are directly involved with developing and maintaining a Food Safety program for the company. The individual will work hand in hand with the Food Handling Program Advisor, Category Management, Food Safety, business stakeholder, and Site Leadership to uphold best-in-class food safety practices and provide updated resources, training, and process improvements. Strong leadership, attention to detail, program development, and a commitment to safety and operational excellence are essential.
Role Responsibilities
  • Develop and support the company's food handling strategy and program development across restaurants and convenience operations.
  • Design and refine processes that promote efficient workflow and adherence to food safety protocols.
  • Lead the food handling team and ensure projects are on track with the team.
  • Monitor food quality throughout the handling process to ensure compliance with internal standards and regulatory requirements.
  • Implement and enforce hygiene and safety standards to prevent contamination and ensure safe working conditions.
  • Provide training to operations staff on proper food handling techniques, safety procedures, and equipment use.
  • Advise category management on proper food handling techniques, safety procedures, and equipment use.
  • Identify opportunities for process improvement, cost efficiency, and optimization to enhance product quality.
  • Ensure compliance with all local, state, and federal food safety regulations.
  • Maintain knowledge of key industry programs (e.g., FSMA 204, EcoSure, ServSafe).
  • Support technology driven solutions, including remote thermal monitoring and intelligent operations tools.
  • Uphold bp's safety, risk, and compliance expectations and reinforce the "Believe in Zero" philosophy.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience preferred.
  • Minimum 7 years of experience in food handling, restaurant, or convenience operations; 5+ years of supervisory experience preferred.
  • Strong leadership and organizational abilities with excellent attention to detail.
  • Food Safety Certification (e.g., ServSafe, CP-FS, CFPP) is highly desirable.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
