Job description

Responsibilities:
  • Administer and support the company's safety program across all field and office operations.
  • Conduct regular jobsite safety inspections, audits, and observations to identify hazards and ensure compliance with company safety standards.
  • Partner with field leaders, project managers, and supervisors to promote safe work practices and proactively address safety concerns.
  • Investigate workplace injuries, incidents, near misses, vehicle accidents, and property damage events; identify root causes and recommend corrective actions.
  • Coordinate incident documentation
  • Partner closely with Human Resources to ensure alignment on leave administration, ADA accommodations, return-to-work plans, payroll impacts, employee communications, and employee relations matters arising from workplace injuries
  • Deliver and coordinate safety training, new hire safety orientation, toolbox talks, and required regulatory training.
  • Maintain safety records, training documentation, certifications, and compliance reporting requirements.
  • Monitor compliance with OSHA regulations, customer safety requirements, and company policies.
  • Track and report safety metrics, trends, corrective actions, and leading indicators to leadership.
  • Lead the company's vehicle and driver safety program, driver qualification processes, accident investigations, corrective action recommendations, driver coaching, and fleet safety training in partnership with operations and fleet management.
  • Partner with the Fleet Manager and operational leaders to identify vehicle-related risks, review accident trends, support preventative safety initiatives, and improve driver safety performance.
  • Support contractor qualification, prequalification, and customer safety documentation requests.
  • Coordinate safety-related equipment inspections, certifications, and program requirements, including fall protection, confined space, lockout/tagout, respiratory protection, and PPE programs as applicable.
  • Conduct field visits to reinforce safety expectations, coach employees, and support supervisors in addressing unsafe behaviors and conditions.
  • Assist with employee engagement initiatives related to workplace safety.
  • Facilitate annual Fire Drills and Tornado drills.
  • Assist with the development, implementation, and continuous improvement of safety procedures, forms, and training materials under the direction of the Director.
  • Maintain current knowledge of regulatory changes and industry best practices affecting workplace safety.
  • Serve as a visible and approachable safety resource for employees, reinforcing Freije's commitment to a culture where safety is a shared responsibility.
  • Maintain ISNetworld and Avetta platforms
Qualifications:
  • OSHA 30-Hour certification required; OSHA 500/510 preferred
  • Bachelor's degree in Safety, Occupational Health, Engineering, or related field (or equivalent experience)
  • 5+ years of experience in construction, industrial, or field-based safety roles
  • Strong knowledge of OSHA 29 CFR 1910 and 1926 standards
  • Experience with incident investigation, root cause analysis, and corrective action development
  • Familiarity with fleet safety programs, driver qualification files, and DOT compliance requirements
  • Experience managing contractor prequalification platforms such as ISNetworld and Avetta
  • Working knowledge of safety programs, including fall protection, confined space, lockout/tagout, respiratory protection, and PPE programs
  • Strong communication, coaching, and leadership skills
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office and safety management systems
