Position Summary:
The Resident Engineer home base is at the Kokomo, IN plant. The Resident Engineer is responsible to be the liaison on the site between the customer and the manufacturing plant. The Resident Engineer should be acute to any abnormalities in the process, operation, form and fit, and any other characteristics of a product and the assembly. The Resident Engineer is not only the first alert to any 0km defect on the customer site, but the Resident Engineer is also the first responder and issue resolver with the minimum time delay.
The Resident Engineer may occasionally have to handle logistics of incoming and outgoing defective parts on need basis; knowledge of the local customs and regulations on battery shipment is advantageous. This position reports to the Quality Manager.
Roles & Responsibilities:
  • Act as a pivotal point of contact from the customer plant to the manufacturing plant
  • Initiate and support initial root cause analysis of 0km defects at the customer site
  • Proactively engage with Customer Satisfaction Engineers to align on customer expectation, customer complaints, continuous quality improvement items, customer concerns, and any value adding information from the customer
  • Implement and manage the agreed and appropriate corrections actions when required (with the purpose of minimizing quality indicators impact)
  • Travel to customer sites domestic and international will be required up to 50%.
  • Perform other position related duties as assigned

Qualifications:
Basic:
  • Minimum Age: 18 years old
  • Bachelor of Science degree
  • Must be able to travel domestic and international up to 50% of the time.
  • Must be eligible to work in the respective customer plant location
  • The ideal candidate will be able to travel, with reasonable prior notice as required (domestic and/or international)
  • Ability to work overtime, weekends, or holidays as required
  • Excellent organization, written and oral communication skills
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to interface with all levels of the organization
  • Knowledge of 8D approach to problem solving.
  • Experience working with in-process, end-of-line and burn-in testing for infant mortality
  • Demonstrated technical problem-solving ability
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office

Preferred:
  • Bachelor of Science or Master's Degree in Chemical, Mechanical or Electrical Engineering from an ABET accredited university
  • Previous Electrification knowledge (battery, electric drive and/or resident plant experience)
  • Experience in continuous improvement systems and lean manufacturing
  • Shainin Red X / Six Sigma Certification
  • Experience with the AIAG Advanced Quality Planning and Control Plans, FMEA, Production Part Approval Process, MSA, and SPC (Statistical Process Control)
  • Experience with quality certification and system such as ISO9001 / IATF16949
  • Familiar with lean manufacturing methodology and implementation
  • Extensive knowledge in Data Analytics utilizing MS Excel, MS Access or other database applications
  • Good working knowledge of Google Suite software programs
  • ASQ Certification in Quality and Reliability
