Job Summary
The College of Liberal Arts is seeking a Research Administration Specialist to join our team. This role will manage research operations and research teams in the Governance and Responsible AI Lab (GRAIL).
Who We Are:
GRAIL is a university research center focused on fostering interdisciplinary collaboration at the intersection of AI, governance and policy, empowering students, and driving rigorous research that answers critical questions facing policymakers and practitioners.
Responsibilities Include:
  • Implement policies, procedures, and standards for research operations and research staffing.
  • Ensure research compliance practices and procedures are followed.
  • Verify quality of research data.
  • Recommend new research ideas and protocols; conduct literature searches, grant opportunities, and draft grant proposal documents.
  • Assist with partnership building, fundraising initiatives, and grant preparation.
  • Monitor materials, software, data, inventory, control and vendor management.
  • Oversee the maintenance of GRAIL equipment, software, websites, and social media.
  • Manages event, visitor logistics; and maintains center communications, website, and social media presence.

What We're Looking For:
Required:
Education and Experience:
  • Bachelor's degree in a relevant social science field.
  • Three years of experience in administrative coordination, research support, or academic operations.

Skills Needed:
  • Strong organizational and leadership skills.
  • Professional communication skills with experience with digital tools.
  • Experience planning and managing events and communications.
  • Use of AI applications for research.
  • R, Python, or similar statistical software.
  • Web editing.

What is Helpful:
  • Master's Degree.
  • Four or more years of experience in administrative coordination, research support, or academic operations.

  • This is a limited term duration position of 3 years with an estimated end date of May 31, 2029. Continuation dependent on funding.
