Job Opportunity: Division Chief of Academic Specialists in Obstetrics and Gynecology
Our organization is in search of an outstanding physician leader to take on the role of Division Chief for the Academic Specialists in Obstetrics and Gynecology within the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology. This senior leadership position is pivotal in enhancing the strategic, clinical, educational, and research objectives of the division, which comprises full-time faculty physicians, advanced practice providers, and researchers.
The division includes specialized sections such as Pediatric and Adolescent Gynecology, Minimally Invasive Gynecologic Surgery, and Generalist/Hospitalist hybrid physicians. Clinical services are provided at the Anschutz Medical Campus and throughout the greater Denver Metro area. The Division Chief will be instrumental in promoting excellence in patient care, pioneering research, and delivering high-quality education and training programs.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide visionary leadership to guide the division through its next phase of growth, collaborating closely with the Division Administrator.
- Recruit, hire, and retain exceptional faculty members.
- Foster an environment of respect, professional support, and development for all stakeholders.
- Manage faculty within the division in partnership with the Division Administrator, utilizing HR/PRISM systems.
- Promote a positive, collaborative culture that values all employees and contributes to the organization's success.
- Prioritize investments in research, education, and clinical activities for the division.
- Advocate for women's health and reproductive rights by ensuring access to comprehensive healthcare services.
- Lead the development of high-quality clinical programs within the division and related fields.
- Collaborate with other leaders to enhance areas of recognized clinical excellence.
- Oversee the delivery of exceptional clinical education and advanced training for medical students, residents, and fellows.
- Ensure the financial performance of the division in conjunction with the Division Administrator.
- Participate in the obstetric and gynecologic call pools, clinics, and other clinical activities as required.
- Engage in educational roles for interns, residents, fellows, and colleagues as needed.

- Identify and collaborate on the development of clinical programs or locations for strategic growth.
- Build relationships with faculty and enhance morale across the division.
- Retain division faculty and establish a pathway for the promotion of junior faculty.

Work Location
This position is based onsite in Aurora, CO.
QualificationsMinimum Qualifications
- For Associate Professor:
- MD or DO degree from an accredited institution.
- Completion of an ACGME-accredited Obstetrics & Gynecology residency program.
- Board-certified OBGYN with a Colorado Medical License.
- 5-7 years of clinical OBGYN experience.
- Current BLS and ACLS certifications.
- Meets criteria for Associate Professor at the School of Medicine.
- For Professor:
- MD or DO degree from an accredited institution.
- Completion of an ACGME-accredited Obstetrics & Gynecology residency program.
- Board-certified OBGYN with a Colorado Medical License.
- Ten (10) years of clinical OBGYN experience.
- Current BLS and ACLS certifications.
- 5-7 years of leadership experience in clinical operations.
- Experience as a clinical educator.
- Meets criteria for Professor at the School of Medicine.
Preferred Qualifications
- 5-7 years of post-residency or fellowship training.
- Experience as a clinical educator.
- Fifteen (15) years of experience in an academic medical center.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Demonstrated scholarly productivity, including peer-reviewed publications and involvement in clinical trials or translational research.
- Experience in strategic planning, quality improvement, and operational or financial oversight within a clinical division or multidisciplinary program.
- Commitment to fostering a culture of equity, access, engagement, mentorship, and professional development.
- Strong record of teaching medical students, residents, and fellows, with evidence of curriculum development or program leadership.
- Dedication to trainee development, faculty career progression, and building academic pipelines.
- Proven experience in leading faculty, managing teams, or directing clinical programs, service lines, or research initiatives.
- Ability to collaborate effectively with interdisciplinary teams.
- Exemplary professionalism and communication skills, with the capacity to represent the division within departmental and institutional leadership structures.
