What does a repair planner do?

A Repair Planner is responsible for assessing vehicle damage, determining the necessary repairs, and creating detailed repair plans for automotive collision and body shops. They work with technicians, parts suppliers, insurance companies, and customers to ensure that repairs are completed efficiently and accurately. Repair Planners often write estimates, order parts, schedule repairs, and help maintain high standards of quality and customer service throughout the repair process.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a repair planner, and why are they important?

To thrive as a Repair Planner, you need strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and experience in automotive repair or collision estimation, often supported by relevant certifications like I-CAR or ASE.
