About the Role
As our Physical Damage Claims Manager, you will lead HDVI's internal claims team where you will provide guidance and direction to direct reports through a continuous process of management involvement and frequent claim file reviews. HDVI offers a remote work environment that is designed to support flexibility.
What You'll Do
  • Be adaptable to various business demands and willing to assist with special claims projects and other duties as assigned
  • Participate in regular claims reviews with both internal and external customers
  • Participate in the building of a best in class claims operation
  • Employ proper claim handling techniques to protect the integrity of our brand and provide consistent service quality and streamlined processes to add value for our customers
  • Develop and execute a strategic file management plan that achieves optimal file resolution and business results
  • Review new notices, ensuring claims are assigned to staff with appropriate skill sets
  • Conduct quality file reviews per HDVI's Best Practices guidelines
  • Establish proper follow up on file reviews per task instructions and conduct additional reviews as necessary; holding the team accountable for quality claim files
  • Implement strategies and initiatives to improve file quality, customer service and manage costs
  • Handle calls and customer escalations, removing roadblocks, collaborating with others and working issues
  • Identifying training needs to meet job standards, goals and company policies and procedures
  • Analyzing coverage, policy interpretation, and giving direction as needed
  • Investigating problems, developing alternatives and building a consensus for the solution to the problem, implementing and monitoring the solution
  • Establish and implement training necessary to operate a team of remote adjusters capable of handling larger scope and severity losses
  • Oversee the handling of all aspects of the claims assigned to the unit including reserving, communication, documentation, litigation management, evaluation, negotiation and settlement
  • Ensure all claims eligible or ineligible for payment conform to quality, production standards and specifications; provides file authority as appropriate to adjusters
  • Other tasks as assigned by the Claims Director

What You Have
  • 5+ years Property & Casualty claims management experience
  • 5+ years experience with handling complex Commercial Auto claims; Trucking preferred
  • Experience handling Pre-litigation claims
  • Ability to lead and empower a hard-working team
  • Extensive experience across all technical areas of Commercial Auto inclusive of but not limited to Physical Damage, Auto Liability, First Party Medical / Personal Injury Protection, Motor Truck Cargo and Truckers General Liability
  • Extensive experience with analyzing, determining and applying Coverage for Commercial Trucking claims
  • Advanced experience and capabilities in litigation claims management, including ADR and mediation processes involving Commercial Auto exposures
  • Ability to work in a rapidly evolving, high-growth environment with the ability to collaborate across and within different levels of the organization
  • Experience with large Fleets (250+) with self-insured retentions and/or large deductibles
  • Thorough understanding of laws, principles of coverage, liability and insurance industry in general
  • Strong leadership skills, time management, organizational and problem solving skills
  • Effective communication skills; ability to obtain information from others and deliver information to others orally and in writing

Preferred Skills
  • Active P&C Adjusters License - strongly preferred
  • Strong analytical, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills
  • Proficiency in Google Suite, Microsoft Office and Adobe Acrobat
  • Experience with self-insured retention (SIR), large deductibles and claims involving Independent Owner Operators (IOO)
