Job description

Position Title: Senior Survey Technician
Location: Remote

Position Description
Primarily responsible for communicating with the Project Manager to understand the needs of the project and reviewing, processing, and performing quality assurance/quality control (QA/QC) on field survey data; Performs drafting, deliverable reviews, revisions, and prepares final products for client deliverable. Also includes assisting the Project Manager with delegation of work to lower-level survey technicians.
Essential Functions
  • Understands project scope and requirements, reviews field data for completeness, and communicates with the Project Manager on project status
  • Reviews notes, sketches, and records of survey data obtained, and work performed and uses that information in the data processing process to verify accuracy
  • Prepares field packages for field crews, including point files, DXF files, KMZ files, and additional information as needed
  • Processes and performs Quality Control checks on field data according to Gulf standards
  • Drafts, maps, and prepares deed sketches, easement sketches, and other parcels to support the survey project
  • Prepares, reviews, and finalizes exhibits and plats such as ALTA Surveys, Easement Plats, Topographic Surveys, etc. for the final review of the Project Manager
  • Performs all responsibilities in accordance with the Gulf Procedures, and the Health, Safety, and Environment policy continuously striving toward our corporate goal of no accidents, no harm to people, and no damage to environment
  • Performs additional duties as assigned or expected to ensure that value is being added to all projects by exceeding clients' expectations
  • Helps to keep lower-level survey technicians on task
  • Assist is mentoring lower-level survey technicians with how to perform their jobs to the Gulf standard

Requirements
Qualifications
  • 5+ years of experience in a survey office environment
  • Well versed in AutoCAD Civil 3D for survey-specific work
  • Experience with Trimble software such as Trimble Business Center
  • Basic understanding of Land/Civil Survey nomenclature including map projections, datums, coordinate systems, bearings, azimuths, etc.
  • Previous fieldwork experience preferred but not required
  • Attention to detail, accuracy, and excellent interpersonal communication skills

Education
  • Minimum High school diploma or GED
  • College or Technical training in either Geomatics, land surveying, AutoCAD drafting, or other related technical skills preferred

Competencies
  • Business and people acumen

Work Environment/Physical Demands
  • Physically able to operate an automobile, have reliable transportation
  • Ability to work outside in all types of weather/weather conditions
  • When on jobsites, frequent standing, and walking. In addition, bodily mobility to bend, crouch or climb for prolonged periods of time
  • Ability to lift to 25 pounds when handling/operating various survey equipment
  • Ability to travel as required for site visits
