Job description

About the Role:

We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented intern to support our aerial data acquisition and analysis operations. This position requires a current FAA Part 107 Remote Pilot Certificate, the ability to drive, travel to job sites, and perform physically demanding tasks in the field. Youโ€™ll gain valuable experience operating drones in real-world environments and assisting in data processing workflows, analysis, and reporting.

Responsibilities:
  • Operate drones in compliance with FAA Part 107 regulations

  • Assist with flight planning, including site research and risk assessment

  • Conduct field missions for data collection with our custom Decker platform

  • Perform drone equipment maintenance and troubleshooting

  • Transfer and organize large datasets collected in the field

  • Assist with post-processing and analysis of aerial data using tools such as Decker and DJI Software Suite.

  • Maintain detailed flight logs and QA/QC documentation

  • Lift and transport equipment (up to 50 pounds) as needed

  • Travel to and from project sites, sometimes involving overnight stays

  • Work collaboratively with team members to ensure safe, efficient field operations

Required Qualifications:
  • Current FAA Part 107 Remote Pilot Certificate

  • Valid driverโ€™s license and ability to drive to field locations

  • Willingness to travel for fieldwork (travel may include overnights)

  • Strong attention to detail and data accuracy

  • Physically capable of lifting and carrying up to 50 pounds

  • Comfortable working outdoors in various weather conditions

  • Basic knowledge of data processing and drone workflows

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Currently pursuing or recently completed a degree in Geospatial Science, Environmental Science, Engineering, Aviation, or a related field

  • Experience with drone platforms (DJI, Freefly, etc.) and mapping software (e.g., Pix4D, Global Mapper)

  • CPR/First Aid certification
