This is a 100% remote position with 0-10% travel. This role is both client facing and has internal leadership responsibilities. This role can be flexible, 30 or 40 hours per week, with a compensation range of $90-115k & annual bonus opportunity.

About the role

The Director of HR Services is a leadership role responsible for both strategic HR client delivery and leading our HR function internally.

This role is intentionally split:

  • ~40% Senior-level, client-facing HR/People Ops work, acting as a strategic partner to complex and high-growth clients
  • ~60% leadership and people management, focused on building, onboarding, mentoring, and scaling our HR team and service delivery model

This role is ideal for an experienced HR leader who wants to stay hands-on with strategic HR and be an important part of our team & company's growth.



What you'll be responsible forClient HR Work (40%)
  • Serve as a senior HR leader/advisor to select clients, particularly those in: Startup, scale-up, PE/VC-backed, or transformation stages
  • Lead complex HR initiatives across:
    • Compliance and risk management
    • Benefits strategy
    • Talent management and performance frameworks
    • HR systems and automation
    • Organizational planning and change
    • Employee relations and sensitive issues
  • Conduct HR audits and deliver actionable recommendations
  • Support executive teams with practical, business-aligned HR strategy
Leadership & Team Development (60%)
  • Lead, mentor, and grow our HR team of fractional HR managers and strategic partners
  • Establish and continuously improve internal HR service delivery processes
  • Oversee client relationships, ensuring consistency, quality, and strong results
  • Coach HR Managers on:
    • HR related situations
    • Client strategy
    • Prioritization and workload management
    • Executive presence and communication
  • Partner with leadership to identify gaps, develop talent, and scale the team thoughtfully
  • Ensure consistent, high-quality HR delivery across all client accounts
  • Be an available resource for the team's client load when needed

Requirements

What will make you successful in this role

  • 10+ years of progressive HR experience, with clear leadership responsibility in fast-paced, growing organizations 
  • Strong people leader with a track record of mentoring and developing HR talent. Prior experience in an HR consulting firm will help tremendously. 
  • Comfortable balancing strategy and execution
  • Highly organized, decisive, and able to lead through ambiguity
