Summary
This vacancy is for a GS-1105-8, Purchasing Agent located in the Department of Homeland Security, U.S. Coast Guard, CG UNIFORM DISTRIBUTION CENTER -UDC in CAPE MAY, New Jersey.

Duties
Help
You will serve as a Purchasing Agent and be responsible for administering simplified acquisitions of all types, including commercial contract, for the UDC and the Clothing Designs and Technical Office (CDTO), purchasing supplies, services and equipment related to the uniform manufacturing and/or distribution program.
Being a Coast Guard civilian makes you a valuable member of the Coast Guard team. Typical work assignments include:
  • Conduct market research and solicit vendors for uniform supplies, services, and equipment to obtain competitive sources and support Coast Guard uniform distribution requirements.
  • Review and process purchase requests and contract actions for uniform program acquisitions to ensure compliance with federal procurement regulations and purchasing procedures.
  • Negotiate and award purchase orders and contracts to vendors and contractors to obtain best value products and services that meet customer requirements and delivery timelines.
  • Monitor procurement actions and contract modifications for purchase orders, BPAs, and MIPRs to ensure accurate documentation, timely delivery, and proper contract administration.
  • Analyze procurement issues and resolve vendor disputes with contractors and agency personnel to support uninterrupted operations and maintain compliance with acquisition regulations.

Qualifications
To qualify at the GS-08 grade level, your resume must demonstrate at least one (1) full year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS-07 grade level in the federal sector. Specialized experience is experience that has equipped you with the ability, skill, and knowledge to successfully perform the duties of this position and is typically in or related to this line of work. Examples of specialized experience include performing the following types of tasks on a regular basis.
  • Purchasing supplies, services, or equipment using simplified acquisition procedures, purchase orders, delivery orders, or established contracts.
  • Conducting market research, soliciting quotes from vendors, and identifying sources of supply to support purchasing requirements.
  • Tracking and documenting procurement actions such as purchase orders, contract modifications, BPAs, or sole source justifications to maintain accurate records and regulatory compliance.
  • Reviewing vendor quotes, performing price or cost analysis, and negotiating purchases to determine best value for the organization.
  • Resolving procurement issues, handling urgent purchasing requirements, or ensuring acquisitions comply with federal procurement policies and procedures.
