Job Title: Psychological Consultant Physician

Specialty: Psychiatrist / Psychologist

Place of Work (City/State): Remote / Nationwide - United States

Site: Social Security Administration (SSA)

Duration: Long-term

Shift Schedule: Flexible / Case-volume based

Credentialing / Onboarding Time: 6 weeks to 8 weeks

License:

  • Psychiatrist: Active license in the state where they practice.
  • Psychologist: Licensed or certified for independent practice in the state where they practice.

Certifications: Psychologists must meet the applicable SSA qualification pathway, including qualifying doctoral education or National Register requirements.

Education: Doctoral-level psychology qualification for psychologists; medical degree for psychiatrists.

Experience Needed:

  • Prior experience working with or supporting the Social Security Administration (SSA) is required.
  • Experience reviewing SSA disability claims, psychological evidence, or disability determinations is strongly preferred.

Special Skills Needed:

  • Strong knowledge of SSA disability programs, policies, and case review processes.
  • Strong psychological case review and documentation skills.
  • Ability to complete accurate assessments within required timelines.

Responsibilities:

  • Review SSA disability claims and supporting psychological/medical evidence.
  • Prepare accurate, policy-compliant psychological assessments.
  • Complete assigned cases within required turnaround times.
  • Participate in required SSA training and quality-review activities.

Misc: Favorable suitability determination required. SSA provides a laptop and access to required systems. The monthly quality target is 96%, with an average turnaround requirement of 5 business days.
