Role Snapshot – Media Engagement + Writing Expertise


We’re seeking an Account Manager with strong earned media experience and a sharp understanding of how media, digital, social, and owned channels work together to advance mission-driven goals.


This is not a marketing, advertising, or sales role. It is an integrated strategic communications role for someone who understands how to work with journalists, develop compelling story angles, shape executive thought leadership, and translate narratives across digital and social platforms. The ideal candidate brings strong media relations judgment and is comfortable advising clients on how earned media, LinkedIn, newsletters, websites, social content, and analytics can work together to build visibility and impact.


You’ll work closely with our founders and senior strategists, leading day-to-day client relationships and driving media-focused communications programs for high-impact organizations.


What You’ll Do


  • Serve as a trusted day-to-day partner to clients, managing relationships with confidence and care
  • Lead media and digital communications strategies, including:
    • Developing story angles, messaging, and narrative platforms
    • Pitching journalists and editors
    • Securing media coverage, op-eds, interviews, and thought leadership placements
    • Identifying opportunities to extend media moments across digital, social and owned channels
  • Draft and edit high-quality written materials, including:
    • Media pitches and press materials
    • Op-eds and contributed articles
    • Talking points, speeches, and briefing documents
    • Communications strategies, media plans, and digital content
    • LinkedIn posts, executive thought leadership content, newsletter copy, website language, and social media content as needed
  • Support media training and message development for executives and subject-matter experts
  • Advise clients on how earned media, digital platforms, social content, and owned channels can work together to advance strategic goals
  • Collaborate with internal team members to ensure strategic alignment and flawless execution
  • Manage multiple client priorities with clarity, responsiveness, and calm under pressure
  • Contribute ideas that strengthen client impact and help evolve Newton Street’s offerings
  • Track and analyze media and digital performance, delivering clear reports that assess message pull-through, narrative impact, and opportunities for amplification.
  • Monitor media, digital, and social trends and emerging news to identify timely pitching opportunities and position clients within relevant public conversations.

What You’ll Bring

  • 6–8 years of experience in public relations, strategic communications, media relations, or integrated communications
  • Demonstrated success securing earned media coverage, op-eds, and thought leadership placements
  • Strong understanding of how journalists work, what makes a story newsworthy, and how media moments can be extended through digital and social channels.
  • Exceptional writing and editing skills—clear, persuasive, and purposeful
  • Experience working in or alongside - PR agencies, foundations, social impact or policy-focused organizations
  • Knowledge of one or more core issue areas: climate, global health, women’s health, mental health, economic opportunity, or philanthropy.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects without sacrificing quality or judgment
  • Responsive and proactive while working in a remote office environment
  • Experience in working across teams and collaboratively with other partners or agencies
  • Technologically fluent and proactive, with strong organizational and collaboration skills.
  • Comfort working in global or multicultural contexts
  • Eligibility to work in the United States
