Job description

We're seeking a Lead Editor to bring our research to a wider audience while maintaining high editorial and accessibility standards. Key responsibilities will include helping our researchers turn their research into clear and accessible outputs, as well as developing, overseeing and executing our social media and multimedia content strategy. About the role and team: Note that we used to advertise for this role as "Communications Lead," but we have renamed it to emphasize the importance of AI knowledge and hands-on writing and editing skills.

Epoch AI is rapidly growing and advising key players on AI's trajectory, but our research isn't reaching all the decision-makers and public audiences it should. We're looking for an editor to help change thatโ€”someone who can sharpen and shape our messaging, expand our reach, and ensure our insights drive discussions about AI's future. You'll be the main point person upholding communication standards at Epoch.

The person in this role will grow our public presence by translating our technical research for a wider audience. Ideal candidates will be familiar with our research, deeply embedded in current discussions about AI development, and have multiple years of experience writing and editing in a research or scientific context. Key Responsibilities Research editing and editorial oversight: Work with researchers to turn technical papers and analyses into blog posts, tweets, newsletters, and other formats, directly editing and writing the materials.

Social media management : Develop and execute our content strategy across X, LinkedIn, and other platforms. Podcast and multimedia content: Direct the creation and promotion of video materials and other multimedia content to effectively communicate our research. Media and promotion: Build and maintain relationships with journalists and content creators.

Website content: Work closely with our product designer to develop and execute our website content strategy. What We Are Looking For Skills and a proven track record in communicating complex topics compellingly and effectively. Exceptional writing skills , with a demonstrated ability to grasp complex technical concepts, make them accessible to different audiences, and communicate about them in an engaging way.

Deeply embedded in current discussions about the development of AI, and are familiar with Epoch's research focus on empirically tracking and forecasting AI progress. An ownership mindsetโ€”you can drive high-level planning while also being comfortable with hands-on execution, obsessing over every detail and taking initiative to do whatever is needed for impact. 3 or more hours of overlap with UTCโ€“8 (Pacific Time) work hours.

Compensation and Benefits Annual salary between $90,000 and $150,000 USD. Other benefits include a fully remote environment, support for relocation and visas, competitive global benefits program, generous paid time off, parental leave, and a flexible expense policy. About Epoch AI Epoch AI is a research institute leading the investigation of artificial intelligence's trajectory and impact.

Our mission is to develop a comprehensive, publicly accessible knowledge base on AI that informs policymakers, industry leaders, and society at large. We strive to achieve both rigor and accessibility to our work, as exemplified by some of our most successful projects. EEO Statement Epoch is committed to building an inclusive, equitable, and supportive community for you to thrive and do your best work.

We're committed to finding the best people for our team, so please don't hesitate to apply for a role regardless of your age, gender identity/expression, political identity, personal preferences, physical abilities, veteran status, neurodiversity or any other background. #J-18808-Ljbffr
