Job description

Spotify is the world's leading audio streaming platform, connecting millions of creators with billions of listeners globally. As podcasts evolve across video and new monetization models, we're building a platform that supports creative expression while maintaining trust, safety, and transparency.

We are looking for an Associate Director, Podcast Policy to define and drive Spotify's global approach to podcast content and platform policy. You will operate at the intersection of content, technology, and regulation, shaping how podcasts function on Spotify across areas like AI, safety, monetization, and creator standards.

This is a highly cross-functional role, partnering closely with Legal, Trust & Safety, Product R&D teams, Editorial, and Communications, and representing Spotify externally with regulators, industry partners, and creators.

What You'll Do
  • Define and lead Spotify's global podcast policy strategy, translating business priorities into clear, actionable frameworks
  • Partner closely with Global Platform Policy teams in key areas including content classification, safety, monetization, misinformation, and platform integrity
  • Establish Spotify's point of view on AI in podcasts, including synthetic voices, generative content, and disclosure standards
  • Lead complex, cross-functional policy programs from concept to launch, including scoping, stakeholder alignment, execution planning, and delivery
  • Translate policy into scalable operational systems, partnering with Product, Trust & Safety, and Content Platform teams on detection, classification, enforcement, and appeals workflows
  • Drive end-to-end program management for major policy initiatives-ensuring clear ownership, timelines, dependencies, and measurable outcomes across teams
  • Build and maintain operating models and processes for how podcast policy is developed, implemented, and iterated over time
  • Lead policy communication and education efforts, ensuring creators and partners understand what policies are, why they exist, and how they are applied
  • Collaborate with Comms and PR to manage external positioning and high-visibility policy issues
  • Define success metrics and drive a continuous improvement loop across policy development, launch, and iteration
Who You Are
  • You have 8+ years of experience in policy, trust & safety, program management, product strategy, operations, or content governance
  • You have led high-impact, cross-functional initiatives that influence product, business, or platform direction
  • You are experienced in driving strategy and execution at scale, with the ability to move from ambiguity to clear plans and outcomes
  • You have a track record of influencing senior stakeholders and aligning teams across functions, including Legal, Product, and Communications
  • You are highly organized and execution-focused, with the ability to drive clarity, accountability, and momentum across complex programs
  • You have a strong understanding of digital content ecosystems (podcasts, video, music, or social platforms)
  • You bring a clear and thoughtful perspective on AI, synthetic media, and platform responsibility
  • You are an exceptional communicator, able to translate complex topics into clear, actionable guidance for both internal and external audiences
  • You are comfortable representing your organization with external stakeholders, including regulators, industry groups, and partners
Where You'll Be
  • This role will be based in New York, NY
