Overview

Our client is nationally recognized boutique agricultural and business law firm is seeking an experienced Managing Attorney - Remote

The firm represents farmers and business owners navigating financial distress, providing innovative strategies to restructure debt, protect assets, and minimize tax exposure. Its reputation for excellence has earned national attention - from Congressional advocacy and Supreme Court filings to industry training seminars and media appearances throughout the Midwest.


Key Responsibilities
  • Lead daily firm operations in collaboration with the owner and management team, ensuring top-quality legal services and strong financial performance.

  • Supervise attorneys, paralegals, and support staff, providing mentorship, evaluations, and training.

  • Monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) and maintain accountability across the legal team.

  • Manage client relationships through exceptional communication with clients, advisors, courts, and opposing counsel.

  • Oversee and participate in case work, including:

    • Bankruptcy filings (Chapters 11, 12, and 13)

    • Debt restructuring negotiations

    • Legal research, drafting, and discovery oversight

    • Mediation, depositions, and courtroom representation

  • Collaborate on firm strategy, including recruitment, systems improvement, and workflow optimization.

  • Refine and enforce firm procedures to ensure operational efficiency and consistent quality of work.

  • Leverage technology (law practice management systems, document automation, workflow tracking) to streamline processes and enhance client outcomes.


Qualifications
  • Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school.

  • Licensed to practice in Iowa (or eligible to obtain within a reasonable time).

  • 5+ years of experience in bankruptcy, debt restructuring, or business litigation.

  • Proven experience with Chapter 11 or Chapter 12 bankruptcy cases (confirmation of at least five plans preferred).

  • Demonstrated leadership or management experience within a law firm or corporate legal department.

  • Strong working knowledge of:

    • Agricultural industry and farm finance

    • Commercial and bankruptcy law

    • Tax implications of distressed business situations

  • Ability to assess lien priorities, develop strategies for asset protection, and manage complex financial cases.
