Cub Cadet Dealers information

What is a Cub Cadet dealer?

Cub Cadet Dealers are authorized retailers and service centers that sell, maintain, and repair Cub Cadet outdoor power equipment such as lawn mowers, tractors, and snow blowers. These dealers provide expert advice, genuine Cub Cadet parts, and warranty support for new and existing equipment. By purchasing from a Cub Cadet Dealer, customers can expect professional service, product demonstrations, and access to trained technicians for ongoing maintenance and repairs. Dealers often also offer financing options and seasonal promotions to help customers get the best value.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a Cub Cadet dealer?

To thrive as a Cub Cadet Dealer, strong knowledge of outdoor power equipment, sales acumen, and business management skills are essential, often requiring experience in retail or equipment service. Familiarity with inventory management systems, point-of-sale (POS) software, and manufacturer certification programs is typically needed. Outstanding customer service, effective communication, and problem-solving abilities make a dealer stand out in building client relationships and resolving equipment issues. These skills ensure successful sales operations, customer satisfaction, and long-term business growth in a competitive market.

What are some common challenges faced by Cub Cadet dealers in managing inventory and customer service?

Cub Cadet Dealers often face the challenge of balancing inventory levels to meet seasonal demand while avoiding overstock. Dealers must stay up-to-date on the latest product models and parts, ensuring timely orders and accurate stock. Customer service is crucial, as dealers frequently assist both homeowners and commercial clients with product selection, maintenance advice, and troubleshooting. Building strong relationships with the Cub Cadet manufacturer and adapting to evolving technology in equipment are also key aspects of the role.

Job description

Product Manager – Engine & Equipment Solutions

Location: Greensboro / Hybrid / Remote

Salary: $115,000/yr - $135,000/yr

Benefits: Annual Bonus, PTO, Medical/Vision/Dental Insurance, 401(K)

Type: Direct Hire with Client

We are looking for a sales-minded Product Manager who enjoys working directly with customers, understands mechanical products, and knows how to turn product knowledge into business growth. This is not a behind-the-scenes Product Management position. You will spend significant time working with customers, supporting the sales team, identifying new business opportunities, helping customers select the right products for their applications, and growing an established portfolio of engine-related products.

The ideal candidate has managed a portfolio of physical products and brings a combination of sales ability, product knowledge, mechanical aptitude, and strong customer relationship skills. Experience with small engines, outdoor power equipment, industrial equipment, automotive components, power equipment, or similar mechanical products would be particularly valuable.

What You'll Be Doing
  • Develop new sales opportunities and help grow existing customer accounts
  • Serve as the product expert supporting customers and the sales organization
  • Work directly with OEM customers to understand equipment and application requirements
  • Recommend products and solutions based on customer needs
  • Build strong relationships with customers, dealers, distributors, and industry partners
  • Identify new markets, applications, customers, and revenue opportunities
  • Manage an established portfolio of gasoline engine products
  • Help develop pricing strategies that balance competitiveness and profitability
  • Monitor competitors, market trends, customer demand, and emerging opportunities
  • Manage products throughout their lifecycle, including new introductions and mature products
  • Support product launches and develop sales tools, presentations, and product information
  • Visit customers to better understand their equipment, challenges, and future product needs
  • Work with engineering and technical teams on product applications and customer requirements
  • Assist with prototype applications, testing, product selection, and technical questions
  • Provide product training to customers, dealers, and internal sales teams
  • Represent the company at trade shows, customer meetings, and industry events
  • Use customer and field feedback to recommend product and portfolio improvements
What We're Looking For

We are interested in candidates who have built their careers around products and customers, even if their current title isn't Product Manager. Strong candidates may currently work in Product Management, Product Sales, Technical Sales, OEM Sales, Business Development, Application Sales, Product Support, Territory Sales, or a similar customer-facing role.

Ideally, you bring:

  • Experience managing a portfolio or product line of physical products
  • Strong sales, business development, or customer-facing experience
  • Mechanical aptitude and the ability to learn technical products
  • Experience working with OEMs, dealers, distributors, or equipment manufacturers
  • Understanding of product pricing, positioning, profitability, and lifecycle management
  • Ability to explain technical products in practical, customer-friendly terms
  • Experience identifying customer needs and matching products to applications
  • Confidence presenting products and recommendations to customers
  • Ability to work effectively with sales, engineering, suppliers, and leadership
  • Willingness to travel for customer visits, training, trade shows, and industry events
Experience That Would Be Especially Valuable

Experience with gasoline engines, small engines, outdoor power equipment, commercial lawn equipment, generators, pumps, construction equipment, agricultural equipment, automotive components, industrial equipment, or other mechanically driven products would be highly desirable.

Experience with manufacturers or brands such as Briggs & Stratton, Honda, Kawasaki, Kohler/Rehlko, STIHL, Husqvarna, Toro, MTD/Cub Cadet, Generac, John Deere, Kubota, or similar companies would also translate well.

Important Note About Product Management Experience

This position manages a portfolio of tangible, physical products. We are specifically looking for candidates whose Product Management experience involves manufactured, mechanical, industrial, consumer durable, or equipment-related products.

Candidates whose Product Management experience is primarily in software, SaaS, digital products, financial products, or financial portfolio management are unlikely to have the background needed for this position.

  Why This Opportunity?

This is an opportunity for someone who wants more than a traditional Product Manager position. You'll have the ability to combine product ownership with sales, customer interaction, technical problem-solving, and business development.

If you enjoy learning how equipment works, talking with customers, finding new applications for products, and helping turn those opportunities into revenue, this could be an excellent fit.
