Job description

Tecovas was founded with the simple goal of making the world's best western boots, apparel and leather goods - and selling them at a fair price. We are a brand revolutionizing a category and welcoming first-time boot buyers and western enthusiasts alike.

Tecovas is looking for a Director of Merchandising, Women's Apparel to lead the vision, development, and execution of our women's product line from concept to consumer. Reporting directly to the VP of Merchandising, you will own the women's apparel business end-to-end-defining the product strategy, guiding design and development, and ensuring a compelling assortment that resonates with our brand and customers alike.

This role is required to be based in Austin, TX. Candidates must either be currently located in or willing to relocate to Austin, TX.

What you'll do:

  • Define and lead the women's apparel strategy, building a clear point of view that aligns with the Tecovas brand and customer.
  • Oversee the full product lifecycle from concept through development, production, and launch, ensuring quality, consistency, and on-time delivery.
  • Partner closely with in-house design, merchandising, and marketing teams to create a cohesive product story each season.
  • Manage relationships with external partners, including licensees and factory agents, ensuring product integrity and alignment with brand standards.
  • Identify opportunities to grow and evolve the women's business, using both customer insight and market awareness to inform decisions.
  • Lead assortment planning and buying for DTC and eCommerce, ensuring the right product mix, depth, and pricing to drive the business
  • Support and help grow the wholesale business, identifying opportunities to expand distribution while maintaining brand positioning
  • Manage samples and data accuracy across platform and tools 

Experience we're looking for:

  • 10+ years of experience in women's apparel design, merchandising, or product leadership.
  • Proven experience owning product from concept through production and launch.
  • Experience working with both internal teams and external partners such as licensees, factories, or agents.
  • Strong understanding of fit, fabrication, and garment construction.
  • Ability to balance creative vision with commercial performance.
  • Familiarity with western, heritage, or lifestyle brands 
  • Bonus points for experience building or scaling a women's category within a growing brand
