Job description

Position Overview
We are seeking a motivated and results-driven Technical Sales Engineer to join our team. This role is responsible for managing an exclusive sales territory, developing new business opportunities, and strengthening relationships with customers and principal partners. The Sales Engineer will represent a diverse portfolio of industrial instrumentation, process measurement, data acquisition and test products. Success in this role requires strong technical aptitude, excellent relationship-building skills, and a proven ability to deliver results in industrial B2B environments.
This is a remote role, however, this is a customer-facing position with frequent travel within Central Alabama therefore the ideal candidate is located in Montgomery, Auburn or Birmingham AL.
Key Responsibilities
Sales & Business Development
  • Identify and pursue new business opportunities within assigned territory.
  • Conduct in-person sales calls, presentations, and product demonstrations.
  • Develop and maintain strong customer and principal relationships to drive loyalty and repeat business.
  • Work with leadership to execute strategic sales plans to grow market share.
  • Meet or exceed established sales targets and performance metrics.
  • Provide pre- and post-sales technical support for customers and internal team members.

Territory & Account Management
  • Manage an assigned territory with regular travel to client sites.
  • Develop and maintain a pipeline of active opportunities using CRM tools.
  • Plan and execute weekly schedules for prospecting, follow-ups, and account growth.
  • Collaborate with principal partners and internal teams to ensure customer satisfaction.

Market & Product Knowledge
  • Maintain in-depth knowledge of product lines, applications, pricing, and promotions.
  • Stay current on industry trends, market conditions, and competitive activity.
  • Provide market feedback to improve product offerings and sales strategies.
  • Represent the company at trade shows, conferences, and industry events.

Reporting & Administration
  • Document all sales activities, contacts, and opportunities in the CRM system.
  • Prepare regular sales reports and territory updates for management.
  • Attend sales meetings, product training, and professional development sessions.
  • Ensure compliance with company policies and uphold the highest standards of professionalism.

Ongoing Development
  • Take initiative for continuous learning through training, mentorship, and feedback.

Requirements
Requirements Education & Experience
  • High school diploma or equivalent required; Bachelor's degree in engineering or related field preferred.
  • 2-5 years of outside sales experience, preferably industrial B2B.
  • Proven track record of achieving or exceeding sales targets.
  • Experience selling process measurement instrumentation (flow, level, pressure, temperature), liquid and gas analytics, and/or data acquisition equipment highly desired.

  • Strong technical aptitude with ability to understand, present, and troubleshoot complex products or systems.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Ability to build rapport quickly and foster long-term customer relationships.
  • Strong presentation, negotiation, and closing skills.
  • Self-motivated, results-driven, and highly organized.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
  • CRM software experience (Salesforce, HubSpot, Zoho, or equivalent).

  • Valid driver's license and reliable transportation.
  • Willingness to travel frequently within assigned territory (up to 25% overnight travel).
