Job description

LabCorp Women's Health and Genetics is hiring a US Remote Lab Based Genetic Counselor to support our laboratory in Santa Fe, NM. This is a position perfect for an organized, thorough, energetic Board Certified / Active Status for ABGC genetic counselor who is interested in genetics, client services, laboratory operations and business. The Genetic Counselor will consult and coordinate with clients and laboratory personnel regarding reproductive tests as well as other types of tests performed by Integrated Genetics and reference laboratories. Please note: this is not a patient facing role.
Work Schedule: Monday-Friday, 8am-5pm pacific time zone (9am-6pm mountain time zone). Some Saturday work will be required.
Responsibilities:
  • Provide subject matter expertise about genetic testing for clients
  • Review incoming prenatal and postnatal specimens for the cytogenetics laboratory to ensure that appropriate testing has been ordered and that essential information about the patient has been provided
  • Coordinate prenatal molecular and/or non-molecular testing for clients including specimen management, send-out and reporting of results
  • Communicate abnormal test results to health care professionals and provide recommendations for appropriate follow-up
  • Provide active guidance to clients, lab support staff and sales team through ongoing informal education, case conference presentations, and client in-services
  • Collaborate on publications and other projects as opportunities arise

Minimum Qualifications:
  • Masters degree in Human Genetics or Genetic Counseling
  • ABGC board certification or active candidate status
  • New Mexico state license in Genetic Counseling or ability to obtain prior to start date

Preferred Qualifications:
  • 2 or more years experience as a Genetic Counselor Assistant with Labcorp Women's Health & Genetics specialty division
  • 1 or more years laboratory genetic counseling experience, post completion of Masters degree

Additional Job Standards:
  • Highly organized, including excellent time management skills
  • Strong multi-tasking ability with excellent attention to detail
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and oral
  • Strong computer skills; proficiency with Microsoft Office
  • Previous experience with LIS systems highly desired
  • Ability to quickly learn new tasks

**Pay Range: $82,000 - $115,000 per year
All job offers will be based on a candidate's skills and prior relevant experience, applicable degrees/certifications, as well as internal equity and market data.
Benefits: Employees regularly scheduled to work 20 or more hours per week are eligible for comprehensive benefits including: Medical, Dental, Vision, Life, STD/LTD, 401(k), Paid Time Off (PTO) or Flexible Time Off (FTO), Tuition Reimbursement and Employee Stock Purchase Plan. Employees regularly scheduled to work less than 20 hours, Casual, Intern, and Temporary employees are only eligible to participate in the 401(k) Plan.
