Job description

The Remote Director of Behavioral Health leads the Behavioral Health Transfer Center, ensuring exceptional operational performance, timely service, and sound clinical judgment. This role requires a licensed clinician with extensive leadership experience in behavioral health, overseeing daily execution, coaching staff, and fostering strong relationships across all organizational levels. The Director serves as the subject matter expert and innovator, driving process improvements in a fast-paced, growth-oriented environment.

Responsibilities

  • Lead behavioral health transfer center operations and performance management
  • Provide coaching and mentoring to staff for continuous development
  • Ensure timely and clinically sound decision-making in patient transfer activities
  • Build and maintain relationships with internal teams and external stakeholders
  • Monitor and analyze performance metrics to drive service improvements
  • Manage telephonic clinical programs at scale, ensuring service level targets
  • Implement operational processes and adjustments based on organizational needs
  • Serve as subject matter expert for behavioral health transfer protocols and practices

Required Qualifications

  • Minimum 5 years in behavioral health or hospital operations, with at least 3 years in a leadership or management role.
  • Bachelorโ€™s degree in nursing, social work, psychology, healthcare administration, or related field
  • Current Compact (Multistate) licensure as a Registered Nurse, or licensure as a Clinical Social Worker or Professional Counselor
  • Must have an extensive background in Behavioral Health at the Director Level.
  • Direct experience managing or building a behavioral health or hospital transfer/admissions center highly desirable.
  • Three yearsโ€™ experience leading telephonic clinical programs at scale, effectively managing service levels.
  • Based on hospital/market/divisional needs, up to 20% travel to the areas served.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Masterโ€™s degree in nursing, social work, psychology, healthcare administration, or related field
  • Experience managing or building behavioral health or hospital transfer/admissions centers
  • Proven expertise in clinical leadership and operational metrics management
  • Strong skills in telephonic clinical program management and staff coaching
  • Excellent relationship management, communication, decision-making, and mentoring abilities
