Location: Broomfield, Colorado (Hybrid or Remote Options Available)
Organization: NextCare Urgent Care
Employment Type: Full-Time


Role Overview

NextCare Urgent Care is seeking a licensed Physician (MD or DO) to serve in a full-time Supervising Physician capacity supporting our Colorado operations. This is a non-clinical, administrative oversight role focused on supervision, mentorship, and regulatory compliance for Advanced Practice Providers (APPs). This position does not require routine patient-facing clinical shifts.


Key Responsibilities

Responsibilities are limited to oversight, supervision, and compliance, in alignment with Colorado Medical Board regulations and NextCare clinical standards:

  • Supervision & Delegation:
    Establish and maintain required supervision agreements with Physician Assistants who have fewer than 5,000 hours of clinical practice, as required under Colorado law.

  • Clinical Oversight:
    Provide guidance to ensure APP practice remains within scope, training, and experience.

  • Quality Assurance & Chart Review:
    Conduct structured, periodic chart reviews and provide feedback aligned with NextCare protocols and evidence-based standards.

  • Availability for Consultation:
    Serve as a clinical resource for APPs via phone, email, or virtual consults during clinic operating hours for complex or escalated cases.

  • Prescriptive Oversight:
    Support compliance with prescribing practices, including controlled substances, in alignment with state and organizational policies.

  • Compliance & Performance Monitoring:
    Ensure appropriate documentation, evaluation processes, and scope alignment are maintained for supervising relationships.

  • Collaboration:
    Partner with Medical Leadership, Operations, and Credentialing teams to support consistent, compliant clinical practice.


Qualifications
  • MD or DO from an accredited medical school

  • Active, unrestricted Colorado medical license

  • Board Certification (Family Medicine, Emergency Medicine, or Internal Medicine preferred)

  • Active DEA registration

  • Minimum of 5 years of clinical experience (Urgent Care or Emergency Medicine preferred)

  • Familiarity with Colorado PA and NP supervision requirements
