Job description

Trellis (https://trellis.law/) is the largest legal research platform for state trial courts, with coverage spanning thousands of courts and millions of cases across the U.S. We aggregate and structure trial court filings, rulings, motions, and outcomes into a unified, searchable platform, combining large-scale data infrastructure with AI-powered analysis to extract, organize, and surface insights across that data. This makes large-scale trial court research possible for the first time.

Our tools enable attorneys to analyze judge tendencies, evaluate opposing counsel, find and assess expert witnesses, and see which arguments and strategies have succeeded in similar cases, so they can assess risk earlier, save time on research, and develop more effective, data-backed case strategies.

The Role
As a Document Review / Verdict Classification Attorney, you will play a pivotal role in enhancing our AI-driven legal intelligence platform. This position involves reviewing and analyzing civil court documents to determine case outcomes, classifying verdict details, and labeling key data such as dollar amounts awarded. Your contributions will directly impact the quality and accuracy of our platform and help provide massive value to our users.
What You'll Do:
  • Reviewing and analyzing civil court documents to classify case outcomes.
  • Identifying and labeling case details, including verdict types and monetary awards.
  • Using custom, web-based software to ensure data accuracy.
  • Providing feedback on software functionality to enhance user experience.

Project Details
  • Hours: 20 - 40 hours per week
  • Pay: TBD hourly
  • Location: Fully remote
  • Duration: 3-6+ month contract

Who You Are:
  • JD from an accredited law school, active Texas or Illinois licensure strongly preferred.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to maintain high-quality work under deadlines.
  • Proficiency in reviewing civil court filings; experience with state court filings is a plus.

At Trellis, we value innovation, collaboration, and inclusion. Whether you're an experienced document reviewer or a JD eager to expand your legal tech experience, we encourage you to apply and grow with us.

We may use artificial intelligence (AI) tools to support parts of the hiring process, such as reviewing applications, analyzing resumes, or assessing responses and identifying potential inconsistencies or verification signals in application materials based on available information. These tools assist our recruitment team but do not replace human judgment. Final hiring decisions are ultimately made by humans. If you would like more information about how your data is processed, please contact us.
