Job Summary:
Turnitin is a recognized innovator in global education, and they are seeking a Director of Business Intelligence & Analytics to establish a BI architecture and promote self-service analytics. This role involves leading a team to develop and implement BI solutions that enhance business decision-making and improve field productivity.
Responsibilities:
• Develop and execute a BI strategy in alignment with the company’s objectives, focusing on scalable, self-service analytics and dashboard solutions.
• Establish BI architecture and standards that promote information accessibility while instituting appropriate authorization safeguards.
• Guide data sourcing optimization, governance, policies, security, and tools to ensure a "trusted single version of the truth" for decision-making.
• Develop/define a comprehensive set of business key performance indicators (KPIs).
• Define, implement, and monitor BI infrastructure and standards; develop and manage vendor relationships for external BI toolsets.
• Gather requirements, working effectively across teams to identify data gaps, aid in the creation of new/modified report prototypes, and build automated reporting solutions.
• Design and document the BI model for key role personas spanning Turnitin, including sellers, sales management, executives, and operations staff.
• Shape the long-term vision through documented statements of BI Strategy that also facilitate enhanced business decision-making, direct investment, and optimize field productivity.
• Work side-by-side with the Business Planning & Operations group to co-develop and continuously improve business reporting and analysis.
• Develop intuitive self-service business performance dashboards that encompass key metrics to support global requirements.
• Audit and ensure the cleanliness/completeness of data.
• Assist in the preparation of data and analysis for Quarterly Business Reviews.
• Provide thought leadership and drive innovation through strategically-oriented BI design and enablement of the enterprise business intelligence portfolio.
• Work closely with business users, stakeholders, and broader Go-To-Market and Revenue Operations teams to translate business needs into BI initiatives.
• Communicate effectively across multiple technical and non-technical business units, as well as across different geographies.
• Present complex data analyses and insights to non-technical stakeholders in a clear and actionable manner.
• Build, mentor, and manage a high-performing BI team, including data analysts, data engineers, and BI developers.
• Foster a culture of innovation, continuous improvement, and data-driven decision-making within the BI team.
Qualifications:
Required:
• Minimum of 10 years of experience in business intelligence, data analytics, or related fields, with at least 5 years in a leadership role.
• 7+ years of experience in business/revenue operations, business analytics, consulting, and/or information technology.
• Proven track record implementing and/or managing self-service BI solutions.
• Experience with Business Intelligence and Customer Relationship Management tools for revenue reporting and forecasting (e.g., Tableau, Power BI, Salesforce).
• Fluency in working with leading data management tools, including MDM tools, ETL tools, reporting tools, and visualization tools.
• Knowledge of scripting SQL, VBA, and database design is a plus.
• Experience with Alteryx.
• Proven ability to extract/source data from multiple data sources and integrate them into a single source view/report/dataset.
• Practical experience with requirements analysis, design, development, testing, and deployment of BI solutions (End-to-End) over multiple technologies, sizes, and scales of projects.
• Experience with analyzing complex data correlations with the ability to define and explore 'what if' scenarios.
• Strong analytical skills, with the ability to critically evaluate information gathered from multiple sources, reconcile conflicts, decompose high-level information into details, and abstract up from low-level information to a more general understanding.
• Demonstrated business acumen and the ability to apply technology solutions to solve business problems.
• Self-starter who can operate independently, with a demonstrated track record of success with strategic and operational matters.
• Ability to lead teams across a broad set of functions and geographies to develop new ideas and creative solutions for difficult, ambiguous, and complex issues.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills, with a track record of presenting to senior management.
• Ability to work with management and business teams to understand their strategy, goals, and objectives, with specific experience in coordinating and leading requirement gathering sessions, and executing and fulfilling business requirements.
• Ability to manage multiple competing priorities simultaneously and drive projects to completion.
• Exhibits sound business judgment, a proven ability to influence others, and a proven track record of taking ownership, leading data-driven analyses, and influencing results.
• Experience with complex IT environments and data centers.
• Bachelor’s degree in Business, Data Science, Computer Science, or a related field.
Preferred:
• Experience supporting education and/or nonprofit institutions.
• Management or Financial Consulting background highly desired.
• Experience with dbt.
• Advanced degrees, certifications, or coursework in business intelligence, analytics, and data science.
