How does working at a remote boutique hotel differ from traditional hospitality roles in terms of daily responsibilities and team collaboration?

Working at a remote boutique hotel often involves wearing multiple hats, as teams are typically smaller and require staff to be adaptable and resourceful. Daily responsibilities may include not only guest services but also assisting with operations, maintenance, and even marketing tasks. Collaboration is key, as staff members must communicate effectively and support each other to ensure a seamless guest experience. The remote location also means employees may need to troubleshoot issues independently and be comfortable with flexible schedules. This environment fosters strong teamwork and offers opportunities to develop a broad skill set in hospitality.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a Remote Boutique Hotel Manager, and why are they important?

To thrive as a Remote Boutique Hotel Manager, you need strong hospitality management skills, experience in hotel operations, and typically a degree in hospitality or business. Familiarity with property management systems (PMS), online booking platforms, and digital communication tools is essential. Excellent customer service, problem-solving abilities, and the capacity to lead a remote team are standout soft skills. These competencies ensure smooth hotel operations, guest satisfaction, and effective team coordination in a remote setting.

What is a remote boutique hotel?

A remote boutique hotel is a small, independently owned or uniquely styled hotel located in a secluded or less-traveled area, often far from major cities or tourist hubs. These hotels typically offer personalized services, distinctive interior design, and a unique atmosphere that reflects the local culture or natural surroundings. Guests choose remote boutique hotels for a more intimate, tranquil, and immersive experience compared to larger chain hotels. The remote setting often allows for privacy, exclusivity, and access to unique outdoor activities or scenery.

Job description

Company Overview

Pacer is a technology-driven revenue management company that helps short-term rental operators maximize revenue & profitability while eliminating the stress of pricing and performance management. We combine advanced data, automation, and deep industry expertise to deliver measurable, lasting results across every portfolio we support.

We operate as an extension of each operatorโ€™s teamโ€”aligning incentives, sharing insights, and ensuring every pricing decision is backed by data and clear reasoning. Our communication is proactive and transparent: operators always know where performance stands, whatโ€™s driving it, and how strategy is evolving.

Through consistent communicationโ€”performance reviews, mid-month updates, and quick strategy syncsโ€”operators stay informed, confident, and prepared to communicate effectively with their homeowners. We believe clear visibility builds trust, reduces churn, and strengthens partnerships.

Weโ€™re results-driven, endlessly curious, and proud to stand shoulder to shoulder with operators who trust us to guide their business growth. Through partnerships with PriceLabs, Wheelhouse, Beyond, RevMax and Key Data, we turn world-class data into performance that lasts.

Position Summary

As a Senior Revenue Manager, youโ€™ll lead strategy and performance for a portfolio of short-term rental properties, serving as both analyst and advisor. Youโ€™ll own revenue outcomes end-to-end, configuring pricing tools, interpreting data trends, and crafting strategies that outperform the market.

This role is ideal for someone who thrives on autonomy, finds satisfaction in mastering complex systems, and takes pride in turning data into decisive action. Youโ€™ll serve as a trusted advisor of each clientโ€™s business - balancing analytical precision with clear, confident communication.

At Pacer, you wonโ€™t just manage numbers. Youโ€™ll shape strategy, strengthen relationships, and see the direct impact of your expertise reflected in our clientsโ€™ success.

Responsibilities
  • Lead end-to-end revenue strategy and dynamic pricing across diverse short-term rental portfolios.

  • Configure and optimize leading RMS tools (PriceLabs, Wheelhouse, Beyond, RevMax) to drive NOI and long-term performance.

  • Analyze pacing, market data, and booking velocity to anticipate opportunities before competitors react.

  • Deliver monthly performance reviews with clarity, transparency, and insight - translating data into confident business decisions.

  • Continuously refine pricing layers (minimum stays, discounts, fees) aligned with portfolio and market goals.

  • Build enduring, trust-based partnerships through proactive communication and a commitment to measurable impact.

  • Collaborate cross-functionally with data and product teams to refine automation, enhance reporting, and fuel innovation.

  • Challenge assumptions, test new ideas, and adapt strategies to stay ahead of shifting market conditions.

  • Uphold Pacerโ€™s values by delivering consistent, measurable impact and treating every PM Partner's business as if it were your own.

About You

Youโ€™re a strategist who finds energy in analytics and meaning in measurable results. You balance technical skill with relationship strength and care deeply about helping clients grow their businesses.

You bring a mix of experience, confidence, and curiosity that enables you to work independently while contributing to a team that values high performance and innovation.

Note: This is not a large-chain hotel revenue management role. Weโ€™re looking for candidates with hands-on experience in the short-term rental (STR) or boutique hotel space - people who understand dynamic pricing, localized strategy, and owner-level impact.

Qualifications
  • 3+ years minimum experience in revenue management for vacation rentals, STRs, or boutique hotels.

  • At least 1 year of client facing or team management experience

  • Proven expertise in data analysis and performance monitoring.

  • Advanced proficiency with leading Revenue Management Systems (RMS) such as PriceLabs, Wheelhouse, Beyond, or RevMax.

  • Hands-on experience with Property Management Systems (PMS) such as Guesty, Hostaway, Streamline, or Track (other modern PMS experience is a plus).

  • Proven ability to synthesize complex data into clear, actionable insights.

  • Exceptional relationship management and communication skills; confidence presenting data-backed strategies to executive stakeholders.

  • High personal accountability and attention to detail across multiple portfolios.

  • Deep care for client success and a drive to deliver measurable business results.

  • Self-motivated and organized. Comfortable operating with independence in a remote, results-oriented environment.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience managing a large and diverse portfolio of properties.

  • Familiarity with major OTAs (Airbnb, Vrbo, Booking.com).

  • Experience in a fast-paced, high-growth startup environment.

  • A strong motivation to learn and adapt to the specifics of the vacation rental industry (for candidates with boutique hotel-only experience).

  • Experience with business intelligence tools (e.g., Tableau, Power BI).

Compensation & Schedule

Annual Salary: ย ย $ OTE $120,000-130,000

  • Note: Top-performing revenue managers at Pacer can absolutely exceed $120K+ in total compensation, but that level is earned through ownership, consistency, and a true passion for performance. The people who reach it treat their portfolios like their own business; theyโ€™re proactive, disciplined, and thrive in a fast-paced environment. Weโ€™ve had team members surpass this benchmark before, though it typically reflects a commitment that goes beyond a standard 40-hour week.

Schedule: Full-time, flexible schedule aligned with client needs and market activity. Standard business hours apply, with occasional adjustments to support portfolio performance or time-sensitive revenue opportunities.

Benefits
  • Health, Dental, and Vision Insurance

  • Life Insurance Coverage

  • Flexible Paid Time Off

  • Work-from-Home Flexibility

  • Professional Growth Opportunities

  • Collaborative, High-Performance Team Culture

Join a team defining the future of revenue management in the short-term rental industryโ€”where data meets strategy, and results speak louder than promises.
