Agate Beach Inn is currently seeking a Director of Sales to join our team.

The Agate Beach Inn is Newport's premier oceanfront full-service hotel, offering 148 guest rooms, Sea Glass Bistro & Lounge, and over 5,000 square feet of meeting and event space. Our conference center hosts corporate, association, government, SMERF, and social events from across the Pacific Northwest, creating exciting opportunities for a driven sales professional to grow market share and build lasting client relationships. We combine the resources of a nationally recognized brand with the flexibility and culture of a locally empowered team.

About the Role

We are seeking a motivated sales professional to develop new group and event business for the hotel. This role focuses on prospecting, building client relationships, and converting opportunities into booked room nights, meetings, and events.

Remote Note

While this position is remote, candidates must reside in Oregon or have extensive prior experience working and building business relationships within the Oregon hospitality and events market. 

The Director of Sales is responsible for leading a team of 3 sales professionals, optimizing revenue, maximizing sales opportunities consistent with the Hotel's business plan; accurately forecasting revenue and expenses, and efficiently managing sales activities through coordination with clients and operational departments.

Responsibilities

  • Anticipates guests' needs and responds appropriately to complaints within the hotel policy
  • Maximizes room revenue and occupancy by developing and implementing effective sales and marketing strategies to maximize revenue generation 
  • Adjusts strategy based on competitive market and market segment knowledge 
  • Responsible for continuously improving the Smith Travel REVPAR Index and achieving top market share results.
  • Focus on new market conditions and impact 
  • Perform other duties as assigned by management

Qualifications

  • Associate's degree or equivalent from two-year College or technical school OR 3-5 years related experience
  • Must be able to read and write in English
  • Valid driver’s license preferred
  • Basic math skills
  • Basic computer skills
  • Ability to apply basic concepts of algebra
  • Ability to sit or stand for prolonged periods of time
