Business Analyst - North American Integrated Analytics Team
In keeping with our global position as an industry leader and innovator, Munich Re is driving transformation in the life insurance industry through machine learning and best-in-class risk assessment. As a Business Analyst on the Product Management team, you will be working closely with our data science, underwriting and development teams on alitheia. You will work on mission-critical systems leveraging AI, electronic health records (EHRs), and other complex, sensitive medical data to make it easier for people to get essential life insurance coverage
Job Responsibilities

  • Support the product lifecycle:
    • Clarify and communicate business needs, contribute to the definition and design of data-driven solutions and ensure the alignment of business solutions and business needs
    • Gather all key facts to propose solutions to solve complex business needs using data and technology
    • Collaborate with stakeholders to identify business requirements and translate them into actionable technical specifications.
    • Identify and advocate for areas of improvements in solutions and processes and make recommendations for enhancements
    • Collaborate with our risk specialists, data scientists, and engineers to plan, develop, and implement new features and platform improvements
    • Support testing and implementation of new features to ensure accuracy and to avoid disruption
  • Support requirements specification across our product suite
    • Create and maintain detailed technical specifications, test plans, process maps, and other documentation
    • Ensure that technical documentation is aligned with business goals, priorities, and timelines
    • Provide technical support to project teams during all phases of the software development cycle
    • Participate in cross-functional meetings to identify and resolve issues related to product development
  • Support technical implementation with clients:
    • Contribute to client-facing and internal process flows, data flows, and other documentation
    • Anticipate, quantify and resolve issues with requirements
    • Prioritize requirements with engineering
Qualifications
The successful candidate will demonstrate a natural desire to provide exceptional client service through his/her energy, enthusiasm, and initiative.
In addition, we are looking for the following qualifications:
  • 2+ years experience in technical roles
  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Economics, Computer Science or equivalent
  • Experience in Individual Life or Disability Insurance (Direct Carrier or Reinsurance) highly desirable
  • Ability to express complex ideas clearly and facilitate communication between clients and internal teams
  • Experience with the full software development lifecycle
  • Strong analytical, organizational, and time management skills
  • Demonstrated ability to apply creative thinking and problem-solving skills to solve business problems
  • Attention to detail and organization
  • Superior written and oral communication skills, including presentations to clients and internal management
  • Experience producing technology project artifacts including but not limited to: use cases, requirements documents, functional specifications, data mapping and process flows
  • Familiarity with cloud computing platforms
  • Advanced skills in Excel, PowerPoint, Word, Power BI, SQL
  • Experience with software engineering best practices
  • Agility to work across multiple internal teams and multiple assignments in a dynamic environment
  • The ability to learn and adapt quickly
  • A drive to make a difference
  • Must be able to travel 10-25%

For New York City based employees, the base salary range anticipated for this position is $102,000-$153,000 plus an opportunity for an annual company bonus based upon a percentage of eligible pay.
