They provide guidance on housing, schools, transportation, legal paperwork, and settling-in services to ensure a smooth transition. Their expertise helps clients navigate the complexities of relocating, from finding a new home to understanding local customs and regulations.

What are some common challenges Relocation Advisors face when coordinating moves, and how can they effectively address them?

Relocation Advisors often encounter challenges such as navigating different housing markets, managing tight timelines, and ensuring clear communication between relocating employees, employers, and service providers. To address these issues, Advisors rely on strong organizational skills, a robust network of local contacts, and proactive communication to anticipate potential problems and provide timely solutions. Building rapport with clients and maintaining flexibility are also key to overcoming unexpected obstacles and ensuring a smooth relocation process.

To thrive as a Relocation Advisor, you typically need strong organizational skills, knowledge of relocation processes, and experience in customer service or human resources. Familiarity with relocation management software, global mobility systems, and sometimes certifications like GMS (Global Mobility Specialist) are valuable. Excellent communication, problem-solving abilities, and cultural sensitivity help in guiding clients smoothly through complex moves. These skills ensure a seamless relocation experience for clients and efficient coordination between all stakeholders involved.

  • Are you the person friends call for recommendations, introductions, or “insider” advice about the community where you live?
  • Would you thrive in a flexible, self-directed contract role that blends relationship building, advising, and community knowledge?

Organization Background:

LINC is a forward-thinking nonprofit organization dedicated to fostering connection and inclusion in the Lehigh Valley, Poconos, and surrounding regions. By providing employers with premium talent attraction and retention services, LINC helps businesses build competitive talent strategies and reduce turnover. We offer a comprehensive suite of services, including candidate consultations for learning about the region, community transition support, partner career services for dual-income couples, and workplace inclusion programming. LINC serves as a vital resource for creating thriving communities and helping professionals and their families feel a sense of belonging.

LINC services a nine-county area that includes the Lehigh Valley, Northeast PA and the Poconos. Candidates and newcomers referred to us are matched with members of our Client Services team who provide confidential guidance and share resources to help people envision life in the area, and ultimately to make our community their home. Many of LINC’s clients settle in the Lehigh Valley and surrounding areas after landing a job at leading employers such as Air Products, B. Braun, Crayola, Lehigh Valley Health Network, Lutron Electronics, Lehigh University, Sharp, Victaulic, and others.

Role Overview:

LINC is seeking a experienced, well‐connected Candidate Relocation Advisor to serve as an independent contractor providing personalized,1:1 consultation to individuals considering a move to one of the communities LINC currently serves:

  • Northeast PA (Carbon, Monroe, Lakawanna, Luzerne, and Schuylkill)
  • Greater Philadelphia (Chester, Montgomery, Bucks, Delaware, Philadelphia)

The advisor will specialize in one of these areas based on their familiarity with the region and where they currently live. This role is ideal for someone who is deeply embedded in the region, energized by connecting with people from diverse backgrounds, and skilled at helping professionals imagine life here.

This position is part of LINC’s Client Services team, reporting to the Client Services Manager. As a contractor, you will set your own schedule within agreed upon service windows, manage your own workload, and independently conduct consultations following LINC’s proven model. Hours vary based on demand and your own flexibility.

Contractor Responsibilities

As an independent contractor for LINC, you will:

  • Participate in training and shadow LINC’s services to become fully familiar with our model and approach
  • Conduct all outreach to assigned candidates and manage scheduling for 1‐hour consultations
  • Deliver consultative services using LINC’s proven model, offering resources, insights, and personalized guidance
  • Document all candidate communication, consultations, and follow-ups in LINC’s program management system (Salesforce)
  • Research and record new community resources, services, and personal connections to support the broader team
  • Attend virtual or in person meetings with the LINC team as requested, at least monthly during periods of active candidate work
  • Maintain timely and professional communication with LINC staff while operating as an independent contractor

Requirements

  • 5+ years of living and/or working in the assigned region, either the Lehigh Valley or another part of Northeast PA
  • Strong, active social and professional network in the region
  • Highly skilled at interacting with individuals from diverse backgrounds and cultures
  • Ability to anticipate candidate needs and proactively address questions and concerns
  • Clear verbal and written communication skills for an executive audience
  • Excellent organizational skills and meticulous attention to detail
  • Collaborative, team‐oriented self‐starter who works independently
  • High degree of integrity, professionalism, and confidentiality
  • Strong interpersonal skills, tact, and diplomacy
  • Experience scheduling and leading virtual meetings
  • Technically savvy: comfortable with Office 365, Teams, and web-based platforms
  • Provide and maintain their own laptop equipped with Microsoft Office (or Microsoft 365) to perform all required work tasks
  • Must comply with all LINC requirements around liability insurance, background check, and IT/security protocols

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in people/talent management, hospitality, or related
  • Proficiency in a language besides English
  • Familiarity with Salesforce or other CRM system for documenting activity
