Job description

Our client is a leading healthcare institution in Queens, NY, dedicated to providing high-quality mental health and addiction treatment services. Their behavioral health department is expanding, and they are seeking a board-certified or board-eligible Addictions Psychiatrist to join their team on a part-time basis.

Position Overview

The Part-Time Addictions Psychiatrist will provide comprehensive psychiatric and substance use disorder treatment to patients struggling with addiction and co-occurring mental health conditions. This role involves working within a multidisciplinary team to deliver evidence-based care, including medication-assisted treatment (MAT), psychotherapy coordination, and relapse prevention planning.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct psychiatric and substance use disorder evaluations, including diagnosis and treatment planning.
  • Prescribe and manage medication-assisted treatment (MAT), including buprenorphine, methadone, and naltrexone.
  • Develop integrated treatment plans for patients with co-occurring mental health and substance use disorders.
  • Work collaboratively with addiction counselors, social workers, therapists, and medical staff to ensure comprehensive, patient-centered care.
  • Provide crisis intervention and relapse prevention strategies.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date electronic medical records (EMR).
  • Participate in staff training, case discussions, and quality improvement initiatives related to addiction psychiatry.

Qualifications

  • MD or DO from an accredited medical school.
  • Board Certified or Board Eligible in Psychiatry with subspecialty training or certification in Addiction Psychiatry (ABPN) or Addiction Medicine (ABPM).
  • Valid New York medical license or eligibility to obtain one.
  • Experience in inpatient, outpatient, or dual-diagnosis settings is highly desirable.
  • Strong commitment to evidence-based addiction treatment and harm reduction.

Please note- The annual base salary range is $150/hr to $200/hr. Actual compensation offered to the successful candidate may vary from posted hiring range based upon geographic location, work experience, education, and/or skill level, among other things. Details about eligibility for bonus compensation (if applicable) will be finalized at the time of offer.
