RECRUITING AND MARKETING SPECIALIST

About the Company

Ruston Paving is a commercial and industrial paving construction contractor with offices in New York, Virginia, and North Carolina. Established in 1943, we are a family-oriented company that has been in business for three generations. Our company is capable of all types of asphalt paving projects ranging from minor repairs to larger projects incorporating asphalt reclamation and recycling, as well as new construction.

General Summary of the Position

Teamwork is a major part of every position at Ruston Paving, so it is important to note that, aside from all other listed responsibilities, you must be willing to assist others and be as productive as possible. This candidate must be an outgoing, proactive self-starter who demonstrates initiative, works independently, and excels at networking, relationship building, public speaking, and motivating others. This role provides a unique opportunity to support both company recruiting efforts and marketing initiatives across the organization. A successful candidate will have an immediate impact on the continued growth and success of the organization.

Essential Functions

The following are a list of essential functions for the position. These are responsibilities that an individual must be able to perform with or without reasonable accommodation.

Recruiting:

  1. Talent Acquisition:
    • Serve as the primary recruiting contact for all divisions and locations within Ruston Paving.
    • Develop and implement centralized recruiting strategies to support hiring needs across the organization.
    • Manage full-cycle recruiting efforts, including job postings, candidate screening, interviews, offer coordination, and follow-up.
  2. Candidate Sourcing and Outreach:
    • Source candidates through job boards, social media, referrals, networking, trade schools, workforce centers, and industry contacts.
    • Build and maintain relationships with candidates, educational institutions, and workforce development partners.
    • Proactively develop pipelines for seasonal, skilled trade, administrative, and management positions.
  3. Hiring Coordination:
    • Partner with division leaders, managers, and human resources to understand staffing needs and hiring priorities.
    • Coordinate interview scheduling, candidate communication, and hiring workflow to ensure a timely and professional process.
    • Support onboarding coordination and assist with pre-employment requirements as needed.
  4. Recruiting Events and Community Outreach:
    • Coordinate and attend career fairs, recruiting events, school visits, and community outreach activities.
    • Represent Ruston Paving at external recruiting functions in a professional and engaging manner.
    • Develop materials and presentations to promote career opportunities with Ruston Paving.
  5. Recruiting Administration and Reporting:
    • Maintain accurate recruiting records, candidate tracking, and hiring status updates.
    • Monitor recruiting metrics and provide regular updates on hiring activity, sourcing trends, and open positions.
    • Assist with improving recruiting processes, systems, and applicant experience.

Marketing:

  1. Content Creation:
    • Develop engaging content for social media platforms, highlighting Ruston Paving projects, employees, and services.
    • Create visual materials for printing including brochures, flyers, project signage, and company promotions.
    • Assist in writing content for the company website, blog posts, and email newsletters.
  2. Project Documentation:
    • Capture high-quality photos and videos of ongoing paving projects to showcase our work.
    • Create before-and-after visuals to illustrate the quality and impact of our services.
  3. Digital Marketing:
    • Manage and update Ruston Paving's social media accounts with project updates, company news, and recruiting messages.
    • Help optimize website content for SEO to improve online visibility and engagement.
    • Track and analyze metrics related to website traffic, social media engagement, and recruiting outreach.
  4. Print Media Support:
    • Design print advertisements for in-house and outward-facing publications and trade magazines.
    • Develop marketing collateral for trade shows, recruiting events, and community activities.
  5. Market Research and Branding:
    • Conduct research on local competitors and industry trends in asphalt paving.
    • Gather customer testimonials and develop case studies from successful projects.
    • Support employer branding efforts that present Ruston Paving as a great place to work.
  6. Business Development Support:
    • Work closely with project managers and assist with pre-qualification requirements in preparation of proposals.
    • Coordinate and attend trade shows and similar activities to promote the brand.
  7. All other duties as assigned.

Education and Experience

  1. This is an entry-level position that requires a bachelor's degree in marketing, communications, human resources, business, graphic design, or a related field.
  2. Recruiting experience in construction, skilled trades, industrial, or related industries preferred.
  3. Experience with video editing software, photography, applicant tracking systems, and job boards preferred.
  4. Familiarity with content management systems and email marketing platforms.
  5. Valid driver's license, or the ability to obtain one, with the willingness to visit job sites, branch offices, and recruiting events occasionally.
