POSITION SUMMARY The Town of Holly Springs is searching for a Recreation Programs Specialist- Nature Programs to serve Parks and Recreation at the Bass Lake location. This position is responsible for planning, coordinating and supervising recreational programs and activities for the community in a variety of areas including outdoor nature, athletics, childcare, and special interest.

SUPERVISORY RELATIONSHIPS Reports to the Bass Lake Park Manager. Works under general guidance from the Manager to ensure coordination of objectives and priorities of the department. Regularly exercises independent judgment and is responsible for the development, implementation and management of recreation programs.

Incumbent functions in a supervisor role for training and oversight of part time programming staff and volunteers. The work schedule is business hours including occasional evening and weekends. The starting annual salary is $59,289.31 (Grade H)

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS The following duties are normal for this position. These are not to be construed as exclusive or all-inclusive. To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each duty satisfactorily.

Other duties may be required and assigned. 1.Plans, organizes, schedules, coordinates and markets recreational programming and activities. 2.Delivers a safe and excellent customer experience to Town residents and visitors

3.Maintains regular communication with the public to address inquiries and ensure quality community engagement. 4.Directs and coordinates daily operations and maintenance for assigned programs. 5.Manages inventory of supplies, equipment and facility scheduling for programming and activities

Ensures the condition, safety and security of equipment and facilities required for programming. 6.Recruits and partners with various contracted instructors, service providers, community groups, volunteers and other government agencies to plan and implement programming. 7.Assist with the development of marketing materials and promotion of recreation programs and activities

8.Assists with the planning and delivery and management of department special events and festivals. 9.Manages activity registration input for recreation software systems. 10.Assists in the formulation and execution of department rules and policies

11.Exercises vision and creativity in approaches to planning, coordination, and problem solving. 12.Other duties as assigned. KNOWLEDGE SKILLS AND ABILITIES Knowledge of the principles and practices of effective community recreation services administration

Knowledge of safety practices and procedures as applied to recreational programs. Ability to establish and maintain accurate records of assigned activities and operations. Ability to interpret and implement local policies and procedures; written instructions, general correspondence; Federal, State, and local regulations.

Skill in organizational and time management to prioritize duties to accomplish a high volume of work product while adapting to constant changes in priority. Ability to perform detailed work accurately and independently in compliance with stringent time limits with minimal direction and supervision. Ability to think quickly, maintain self-control, and adapt to stressful situations.

Knowledge of current office practices and procedures. Knowledge of computer software consistent for this position. Ability to perform mathematical calculations required of this position.

Ability to communicate clearly, concisely and effectively in English in both written and verbal form. Skill in researching and understanding complex written materials. Ability to prepare and maintain accurate and concise records and reports.

Ability to apply sound judgment and discretion in performing duties, resolving problems and interpreting policies and regulations. Ability to communicate detailed and often sensitive information effectively and concisely, both orally and in writing. Ability to handle sensitive interpersonal situations calmly and tactfully.

Ability to maintain professionalism at all times. Ability to maintain effective working relationships with individuals within and outside the organization. Ability to maintain confidentiality and discretion regarding business-related files, reports and conversations, within the provision of Freedom of Information Act and other applicable State and Federal statutes and regulations.

Ability to work the allocated hours of the position and respond after hours as needed. Work is performed daily both in and outdoors under all weather conditions and includes exposure to inclement weather, noise, vibrations, and equipment. Work is generally in a moderately noisy setting (e.g. business office, light traffic)

MINIMUM REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS Two (2) years professional work experience in recreation management. -Valid N.C. Driver's License PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS Bachelor's Degree from an accredited college or university in recreation, physical education or a closely related field

Certification as a Parks and Recreation Professional (CPRP) OTHER REQUIREMENTS Certifications must be obtained in timeframe specified by the Town. CPR/AED/First Aid Certification -NC Environmental Educator Certification -Must pass background and drug screen process
