Duties and Responsibilities The intent of this job description is to provide a representative summary of the major duties and responsibilities performed by employees in this job. Employees may be requested to perform job-related tasks other than those specifically presented in this description.

Develops and manages programs and events for the older adult community to include large-scale community events, classes and programs Coordinates and facilitates programming in collaboration with other program areas and departments, including Specialized Recreation, Youth Programs, Athletics, Aquatics, Health and Wellness, Nature, Teens, contracted programs, etc. Oversees daily operations of designated facilities, programs, events, and ride operations Orchestrates scheduling, planning and coordination of activities, transportation, and associated resources Maintains vigilance over safety and risk management protocols Occasionally assumes the role of onsite supervisor in their absence Oversees administrative functions including attendance, registration, facility rental, payroll, and programming evaluation Performs facilities management duties including but not limited to staff supervision and schedules, work order submissions, facility inspections, and maintaining safety compliance/training Responds to facility-related matters and emergencies Provides fiscal management to include budgeting, banking, purchasing, payroll, and reporting Ensures excellent customer service and satisfaction by addressing concerns/complaints Solicits community input to develop programming opportunities Evaluates patron satisfaction through survey review Assists patrons with registration Provides recommendations of services and programs based on the needs of the patron Creates diverse opportunities that support community needs and help overcome barriers Collaborates with internal and external organizations and entities to develop partnerships and provide specialized programs for older adults Performs community outreach and engagement through public meetings and events Performs other duties as required Typical Qualifications Required Education and Experience Bachelor's Degree in Leisure Activities, Physical Education, Sports/Athletics, Therapeutic Recreation or related field; 1 to 3 years' experience in recreation program/activity and/or special event implementation, marketing, coordinating, or related work; OR Any equivalent combination of training and/or experience that provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities may be substituted Required Licensing & Certification Valid North Carolina Class C Driver's License, or the ability to obtain within 60 days of hire First Aid AED and CPR for the Professional Rescuer Preferred Licensing & Certification Certified Parks and Recreation Professional Additional Information Knowledge of: Recreation/Registration Software City-wide departmental organization policies and procedures Governmental laws, standards, and regulations Demographic group served (adult population 50+) Community engagement principles Modern office practices and procedures including the basic use of standard office equipment and computer applications such as word processing, databases, and spreadsheet applications Skill in: Customer service Verbal and written communication Project management Program marketing and promotion Establishing and maintaining effective working relationships Ability to: Maintain confidentiality Analyze and problem-solve Adapt programming in changing environments ADA and Other Requirements: Work Environment and Physical Effort: Medium: Exerting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, up to 25 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects. Work Environment: Work is typically performed in an office or similar indoor setting.

Employees may occasionally work in an outdoor environment or in a vehicle. Work Exposures: Work in this position does not require frequent environmental exposures.
