Description * Salary Grade SG 110* * Recruitment Salary Range: $55,131.00 - $68,857.00 * ** Salary offered will be determined based on directly related experience ** * Work Location is 715 Amelia Church Rd., Clayton, NC (Johnston County) * The Town of Clayton is seeking applicants for a Recreation Program Supervisor in the Parks and Recreation Department. The Town of Clayton employs more than 340 full-time staff in areas including police, fire, and electric utilities. The Town of Clayton also offers a range of PT positions including positions in Parks & Rec, Library, and Cultural Arts
The Town of Clayton is the fastest growing town in Johnston County, which is the fastest growing county in the State of North Carolina. Duties & Responsibilities Performs responsible professional and administrative work.
This includes planning, organizing, promoting, and implementing activities and programs at a facility; does related work as required. Work is performed under general supervision of Assistant Director. Supervision is exercised over facility staff, part-time staff, and volunteers.
Schedules and supervises the operation of an activity center providing a variety of recreation programs. Oversees a diversified program suited to the needs of the center's participants and potential participants. Schedules and supervises use of facilities by groups; enforces rules and regulations and maintains order and discipline.
Coordinates and schedules the organization and operational activities of the Community Center and related recreational, educational, or cultural programs. Develops, markets, implements, and evaluates a variety of programs; and performs cost analysis and seeks funding for programs. Identifies opportunities for improving methods and procedures; identifies resource needs; reviews with appropriate management staff; and implements improvements.
Provides customer service. Responds to and resolves customer issues and needs; provides tours and orientations; promotes and sells memberships and programs; and provides information on community services and resources. Oversees the maintenance related to program spaces, facility grounds, and monitors equipment for cleanliness and proper function.
Provides staff assistance to senior management personnel; participates on a variety of committees; and prepares and present staff reports and other correspondence as appropriate and necessary. Coordinates community center activities with those of other divisions and outside agencies and organizations. Performs other related duties as required.
Special Requirements, Education & Experience Knowledge of and experience with clay and pottery programs, including studio practices, equipment use, ceramic arts techniques and kiln operations. Thorough knowledge of the operation of a major recreation facility. Thorough knowledge of indoor and outdoor recreation programs and related rules and regulations.
Thorough knowledge of the principles and practices of recreation planning, programming and operations; thorough knowledge of programming for children; ability to work collaboratively with other public entities. Ability to deal effectively with parents; ability to manage the physical aspects of a facility. Ability to operate and maintain order in a public facility.
Ability to communicate ideas effectively both orally and in writing. Ability to plan and supervise the work of others. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with staff, participants, community organizations and the general public.
Experience and Education: Bachelor Degree in Parks and Recreation Management or related major field required. Two to four years of recreation or leisure programming experience at the minimum. OR Depending on the position, the Town may consider an equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the job such as those listed above, unless otherwise subject to any other requirements set forth in law or regulation.
