Job description

Recruiting at Brex

Recruiting is where every career at Brex begins. We're the first point of connection for future builders and leaders, helping candidates see what's possible. We partner with leaders across the company to find exceptional talent and build high-performing teams. We move quickly, think strategically, and take pride in creating a thoughtful, welcoming candidate experience from the very first contact. We don't just fill roles, we shape the culture at Brex, finding the next generation of builders and leaders.

What you'll do

  • Lead, coach, and develop a team of Technical Recruiters and Sourcers focused on AI/ML, Specialized Tech, and Engineering Leadership hiring; set and drive team goals around pipeline quality, conversion rates, time-to-fill, and candidate experience
  • Partner with Engineering stakeholders to translate hiring needs into sourcing and assessment strategies; maintain clear visibility into pipeline health and surface risks and recommendations to the Director of Technical Recruiting and leadership
  • Champion recruiting process quality - drive consistency in interviews, calibration, and offer strategy; develop and refine frameworks for evaluating candidates in specialized and leadership-level technical roles
  • Contribute to recruiting enablement and new team member onboarding; partner with Recruiting Ops, Comp, and Finance on headcount planning, tooling, and capacity modeling

Where you'll work

This role will be based in our San Francisco office. We are a hybrid environment that combines the energy and connections of being in the office with the benefits and flexibility of working from home. We currently require a minimum of three coordinated days in the office per week: Monday, Wednesday, and Thursday. As a perk, we also have up to four weeks per year of fully remote work!

Responsibilities

As Senior Manager, Technical Recruiting, you'll lead the team responsible for some of Brex's most complex and high-stakes hiring - AI/ML, Specialized Tech, and Engineering Leadership. You'll own the end-to-end health of your function's pipeline: setting team goals, driving conversion, and surfacing risks before they become blockers. You'll partner directly with Engineering leadership to translate business priorities into sourcing and assessment strategies, and you'll bring rigor to how we evaluate candidates in specialized and senior technical roles. As much as this role is about hitting numbers, it's about developing people - coaching your recruiters to raise their craft, give sharper feedback, and build stronger relationships with the leaders they support. If you're energized by the intersection of team development, technical hiring strategy, and operational excellence in a fast-moving environment, this is the role.

Requirements

  • 7+ years of technical recruiting experience in high-growth or venture-backed tech companies
  • 2+ years of people management experience leading technical recruiting teams
  • Demonstrated experience hiring for specialized technical roles (AI/ML, Infrastructure, Platform, Security, or similar)
  • Track record of developing recruiters - giving direct feedback, running 1:1s, and building high-performing teams
  • Strong analytical instincts; comfortable reading pipeline data and translating it into action
  • Experience as a strategic partner to Engineering or senior technical leadership
  • Ability to operate with autonomy and handle ambiguity in a fast-moving, evolving org

Bonus points

  • Experience hiring Engineering Leadership or Staff+ talent
  • Familiarity with AI/ML talent markets and sourcing strategies for applied ML or research roles
  • Experience navigating recruiting in a post-acquisition or org integration context
  • Proficiency with Greenhouse, Gem, LinkedIn Recruiter, or similar tooling

Compensation

The expected salary range for this role is $170,000 - $210,000. However, the starting base pay will depend on a number of factors including the candidate's location, skills, experience, market demands, and internal pay parity. Depending on the position offered, equity and other forms of compensation may be provided as part of a total compensation package.
