Reporting Relationships
Reports to: Supervision is received from the Director, Disability Support Services
Supervision Exercised: Supervision of RAISE instructors; additional supervision may be exercised over interns or student workers.
Job Summary
This position will provide supervisory, administrative, instructional, and programmatic oversight for the RAISE program with specific emphasis on marketing the program and recruiting prospective students. The primary focus of this position will be to assist students with intellectual disabilities transitioning to College level classes and internships. Teaching RAISE classes will also be a requirement of this position as needed.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Related duties may be assigned.
1. Meet with current and prospective students to determine placement into the program.
2. Assist with developing & revising the program curriculum.
3. Orient and train new students and faculty; Provide support with utilizing Eagle (learning management system).
4. Advise students on academic and vocational options that align with their personal interests and goals.
5. Guide new and prospective students through the enrollment process; Work in partnership with feeder school districts.
6. Work in tandem with Disability Support Services staff when necessary for academic accommodations.
7. Work in collaboration with, and provide general programmatic support, to Disability Support Services as needed.
8. Provide supervision and support to instructors, educational aides, volunteers, and other support staff as necessary; Assist with finding substitute instructors whenever needed.
9. Assist students with transitioning from the core program into regular college coursework. Serve as a liaison between students and instructors; assist with completion of audit (and other required) paperwork.
10. Monitor student performance and communicate as appropriate with Director, students, instructors, and other stakeholders.
11. Collaborate with the college's Career Services department to engage program participants in career-related resources, activities, and job opportunities.
12. Identify and develop opportunities for students to participate in a variety of inclusive vocational work experiences, on campus and in the community.
13. Identify existing opportunities for collaboration with community employers for job training, internships, and job placement for program participants.
14. Create and maintain an efficient, accurate record-keeping system of program-related data (ex., participant enrollment and progress, program outcomes and results, job and internship leads, applicants and student placement statistics); Report data to Director as requested.
15. Pursue various funding options for the program (including grants) and financial assistance for students.
16. Develop and coordinate program-related events such as orientation(s) for new students, Open Houses, Graduation ceremonies, Career and resource fairs in the community, etc.
17. Work collaboratively with internal and external community agencies and partners that provide services to individuals with disabilities, specifically the Transition Planning Committee of Northern Illinois.
18. Collaborate with the Marketing department to initiate and engage in promotion and marketing efforts for the program both internally and externally in the community, including contacting media, writing newsletters, etc.
19. Teach within the RAISE program as needed.
20. Plan events and social engagement opportunities for students.
21. Develop new supportive services, such as a peer mentor program; Provide supervisory and administrative oversight for the program and participants.
22. Other program-related duties as assigned.
23. Use tact and good judgment at all times; demonstrate the ability to effectively identify problems, engage in resolution processes, and offer solutions in collaboration with appropriate individuals.
24. Regular attendance is expected.

Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in special education or related field required. A Master's degree is preferred.
1. Minimum of 2 to 3 years of experience in Higher Education.
2. Excellent communication and organizational skills.
3. Ability and interest to work with diverse students, particularly those with intellectual disabilities.
4. Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to build positive relationships (including with outside agencies).
5. Ability to work with college students in a fast-paced environment.
6. Flexibility and ability to multi-task.
7. Ability to work collaboratively with both internal and external staff.
8. Working knowledge of the Americans with Disabilities Act, Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act, and the ADA Amendments Act of 2008 is preferred.
9. Previous experience working with individuals with disabilities (Particularly those with intellectual disabilities) is preferred.
10. Prior experience with job development for individuals with disabilities (especially those with intellectual disabilities) preferred.
