POSITION SUMMARY:

As a Purchasing Supervisor, you will be a key leader in our procurement team, overseeing and optimizing purchasing activities to meet organizational objectives. You will play a crucial role in guiding the procurement process, managing vendor relationships, and ensuring efficient and cost-effective procurement of goods and services. The Purchasing Supervisor will contribute to the development of procurement strategies, mentor junior staff, and collaborate with cross-functional teams to enhance overall operational efficiency.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS & RESPONSIBILITIES:

Team Leadership:

  • Supervise and lead a team of purchasing professionals, providing guidance, support, and fostering a collaborative work environment.
  • Ensure the team meets procurement goals and objectives.

Procurement Process Optimization:

  • Oversee end-to-end procurement processes, from requisition to delivery, ensuring efficiency and compliance with organizational policies.
  • Implement improvements to streamline procurement workflows and reduce lead times.

Vendor Management:

  • Cultivate and maintain strong relationships with suppliers, negotiating contracts, and evaluating vendor performance.
  • Lead vendor selection processes, ensuring alignment with quality and cost requirements.

Budget Management:

  • Collaborate with finance teams to monitor and control procurement budgets.
  • Identify opportunities for cost savings and implement strategies to optimize purchasing expenditures.

Strategic Sourcing:

  • Contribute to the development and implementation of strategic sourcing initiatives.
  • Analyze market trends, conduct supplier assessments, and recommend sourcing strategies.

Cross-Functional Collaboration:

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including operations, finance, and logistics, to align procurement strategies with organizational goals.
  • Provide procurement insights and support to other departments as needed.

COMPETENCIES:

  • Proven leadership skills with the ability to lead and mentor a team effectively.
  • In-depth knowledge of procurement processes, strategic sourcing, and contract negotiations.
  • Strong analytical skills for data-driven decision-making and identifying cost-saving opportunities.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills to interact effectively with internal teams and external suppliers.
  • Ability to analyze complex issues, identify root causes, and implement effective solutions.

QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE:

  • 5 – 6 years of experience in purchasing or procurement roles, or equivalent military or practical experience.
  • Proven experience in vendor management, contract negotiation, and strategic sourcing.
  • Strong knowledge of procurement software and systems.
  • Team management and leadership experience.
  • Ability to successfully pass a background check post offer acceptance.
