Job description

SUMMARY:

The Purchasing Assistant reports to a Buyer and is responsible for the following.


Onsite: This is an onsite position, candidate must be able to report to our Store Support Center located at 600 Citadel Drive, Commerce, CA 90040.


ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Prepares purchase orders as needed.
  • Assists department with following purchasing procedures, as well as following up on their orders to ensure that deliveries are timely.
  • Assists and/or issues purchase order follow-up to ensure on-time deliveries and correct pricing, terms and specifications.
  • Updates sales log reports on a daily basis.
  • Updates and inputs cost retail prices on a daily basis.
  • Extensive follow-up with store directors and vendors on a daily basis.
  • Provides strong data entry support/receivers.
  • Responsible for meeting daily deadlines.
  • Schedules/sets up vendor appointments.
  • Provide general support to Buyers.
  • Other duties as assigned.


EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:

  • Requires an associate degree and/or 2 years’ experience of either grocery retail or scan coordinator experience.


OTHER REQUIREMENTS:

  • Bilingual English/Spanish preferred.
  • Superior organizational, time management and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong communication skills, oral, written, and interpersonal.
  • Computer proficiency with Microsoft Office and proven ability to create and maintain complex analysis reports in spreadsheets using Excel.
  • Strong attention to detail.
  • Multitask oriented.
  • Ability to establish and maintain working relationships with associates, supervisors, and vendors at every level.


COMPENSATION:

The salary range for this position is $20.00 to $23.00 per hour. The actual starting pay will be determined by a number of qualifications, including, experience and relevant skills.
