Axon is searching for a Purchasing Assistant who offers support to the Materials Manager by executing regular Purchase order transitions for consistent items that require minimal supervision. Some of these orders include raw materials, non-inventory items, stock parts orders miscellaneous tools, supplies, services, etc. in accordance with approved purchasing requisitions and procedures. This role reports to the Materials Manager of Axon.
  • Confirm purchase orders in an accurate and timely fashion
  • Alert Buyer of any discrepancies in orders
  • Communicate item or pricing changes to sales and engineering
  • Monitor demand and material usage to create purchase orders
  • Generate request for quotes from vendors with follow up
  • Follow up on all purchase orders ensuring accurate delivery and cost
  • Alert buyer of any changes within two hours of receiving information
  • Communicate delivery changes to buyer to communicate through the organization
  • Assistance with paperwork and filing
  • Order placement as necessary
  • Assist engineering for bill of material review, manual generation, and item creation.
  • Under direct supervision purchase prescribed routine materials and/or equipment ensuring the meeting of quality, delivery, and specification requirements at the lowest possible cost.
  • Process the "approved" purchase requisitions.
  • Under direct supervision gather quotes from various venders/suppliers on requested equipment and/or tools.
  • Perform limited negotiation of prices.
  • Maintain and update active purchase orders.
  • Expedite purchase orders when necessary.
  • Greets all visitors courteously, determines their needs, and directs them to the proper person and/or office.
  • Efficiently operates the Company switchboard to relay incoming calls to appropriate employees.
  • Regular attendance and daily punctuality are necessary for performing the job.
  • Prepares correspondence, letters, memos, reports, etc., from detailed instructions.
  • Performs additional duties and assignments as directed by management.

JOB REQUIREMENTS:

  • Preferred 6+ months of purchasing experience. Prefer manufacturing environment.
  • Minimum High School diploma or GED.
  • Good working knowledge of grammar, punctuation, and spelling. Ability to operate standard office machines.
  • Good computer skills (Microsoft Office - Word/Excel).
  • Good interpersonal skills.
  • Courteous, efficient telephone manner; prompt routing of calls.
  • Pleasant reception of visitors.
