Job description

Position Summary

This roleis responsible forexecuting the quoting, procurement, and delivery of specified products and/or services from qualified suppliers and subcontractors within established Company policies and practices. The Purchasing Agent willbe responsible fordeterminingand making recommendationsfor the best evaluated solution for the Company with respect to cost, quality, delivery, National SupplyAgreementand other similar elements. 

Position Details

  • Fulfillsmaterial requisitions from field staff, estimating or fabricationshop,procuresand ensuresproduct is ordered at a competitive price anddelivery of product to user within requiredtimeframes. 
  • Partnerswith staff and management toeliminatewaste and streamline systems.Partnersclosely with A/P and Project Management to quickly resolve problem invoices andremitsforpayment within an acceptabletime frame. 
  • Assistsin compiling and preparing bid documents and bidders list, including inquiry preparations, request for bids and recommendations for award of contract. 
  • Coordinates andassists project managersand other job functionsinprocuringgoods and services, such as raw materials, equipment, tools,partsand supplies.Assistin resolving issues and conflicts related to supplier activities. 
  • Coordinatesbulk deliveries of rough products, to meetdeadlines. 
  • Preparesandmanages purchase orders and follows up on past-due purchase orders. 

Qualifications 

  • 2-yearAA degree preferred or equivalent experience 
  • Minimum3years' experiencein the construction industry preferred. 
  • Strong knowledge ofpurchasingpractices, systems, and practices. 
  • Good abilityto effectively negotiate andprocureitemsin a timely manner. 
  • Mustpossessexcellent time management skills with the ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously, while planning and executingtimely, effectively, efficiently, and accurately 
  • Strong analytical andproblem-solvingskills, quality oriented, and strong attention to detailrequired. 
  • Strong product knowledge of pipe, valves, and fittings for Plumbing / mechanical systems. 
  • Ability tooperatea personal computer using spreadsheet, word processing, database software, and experience using ERP software. (COINS preferred) 
  • Ability to work in a continuous improvement environment 
  • Ability to work effectively with suppliers, customers, project management team, field staff, and accounting in a team environment. 
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills. 
  • Strong presentation skills.
