Position Summary
Stanion Wholesale Electric Co., Inc., a regional leader in the wholesale distribution of electrical goods, services, and supplies, seeks a qualified and motivated Purchasing Agent. Responsible for directing the purchase of assigned product lines, inventory control and product line information. Also responsible for the development of all systems and methods essential to this function.
Responsibilities
  • Recommends and follows Stanion Wholesale Electric Company's general purchasing policies, establishing inventory levels and maintaining a good relationship with customers and vendors.
  • Interviews vendor representatives and recommends purchases of new products and the deletion of other products in the line. Negotiates prices and makes purchase of quantity items in relation to the best purchase prices and freight terms.
  • Monitors inventory levels and adjust purchasing parameters to obtain the best possible inventory turnover ratios; avoids stock shortages; and avoids accumulation of obsolete or unnecessary items.
  • Assists the Pricing Department with pricing updates in the computer system.
  • Attend training sessions and department meetings as requested.

Skills/Physical Demands/Additional Qualifications
  • Purchasing experience and basic electrical product knowledge preferred but not required.
  • Strong verbal and written skills required.
  • Strong basic math skills to maintain and control inventory expenses.
  • Ability to create and present ideas and reports.
  • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively.
  • Excellent time management skills.
  • Show strong attention to detail.
  • Microsoft Windows, internet, and e-mail skills.
  • Driver's license that meets job requirements and a motor vehicle driving record that satisfies the requirements of our casualty and liability insurance program. For the state of KS Class-C, MO Class-E & OK Class-D.
  • Must be able to lift 50 pounds on an infrequent basis and 25 pounds on a frequent basis.
