Position: Prepress Operator
Reports to: Prepress Manager
FLSA Status: Non-Exempt
Department: Prepress
Location/Shift: Blue Ash, Ohio / 1st Shift
Essential Function:
The Prepress Operator prepares files to ensure that images and text are ready to be printed on various surfaces for many different medias to include Offset printing, Digital Large Format, Digital Variable Print, Direct Mail Campaigns, Packaging, Promotions, etc.
Experience:
  • Minimum 3-5 years' experience as a Prepress Operator in a commercial printing environment
  • Proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite
  • Working knowledge MS Excel
  • Knowledge of XMPie, Heidelberg Prinect workflow a plus
  • Knowledge of design, color theory and typography a plus
  • Printing and binding experience a plus

Job Duties and General Expectations:
  • Excellent customer service and communication skills
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment while maintaining a high level of accuracy
  • Highly motivated with a positive attitude and the ability to work in a team environment
  • Analyze files provided by clients or in-house design teams and assess suitability for printing, checking,and double-checking critical aspects of images and text
  • Troubleshoot and fix file issues, including alignment, color, exposure, clarity, grain and other imageand typography problems, as well as manipulating for bleed and binding
  • Create proofs for client or design team review, making needed adjustments in response to feedback,then cheerfully and meticulously creating new proofs until final design is approved
  • Double-check proofs for quality, including clarity and alignment, before beginning a print run
  • Convert approved image files for use with digital printing equipment or digital plate preparation
  • Maintain tidiness of work area, including keeping computers and printing equipment clean and in goodrepair
  • Perform light maintenance of equipment, including software updates and replacement of consumable supplies as needed
