WHAT IS A CAST HOUSE?

The Cast House is a structure that holds an aluminum smelter. Howmet Aerospace's smelters are among the safest in the world. Our modern aluminum smelter will require trained and skilled operators.

Position Summary: Operates production equipment to meet quality and production targets. This position will require operators to regularly rotate between duties. 

Essential Duties:

  • Follows all safety procedures
  • Operates one or more pieces of equipment in a safe and efficient manner to produce quality products while keeping a quick pace
  • Performs compliance checks and completes paperwork, documentation and reports
  • Completes required paperwork
  • Participates in TPM activities
  • Ensures that 5S requirements are met
  • Assists in problem solving of identified problems in the department
  • Clean equipment and lubricate to keep in like-new condition.
  • Inspects equipment to identify and correct potential failures. 
  • Use error-proof/mistake-proof techniques to prevent failure. 
  • Identify, respond to, document problems and resolve to root cause.
  • Analyze equipment performance data (via computer) to improve performance.
  • Perform basic maintenance and lubrication tasks to prevent failure (TPM concepts).
  • Participate in team meetings and provide suggestions to continuously improve all processes
  • Operate hoist, trucks and other power-driven equipment.
  • Work from standards, develop and revise as necessary to improve processes, eliminate waste and manage scrap.
  • Operate all equipment as necessary and monitor system performance.
  • Document saw blade, other tooling component changes to improve process-
  • Determine and requisition required materials.
  • Set-up, adjust and tend manual or automatic controlled robots and lubricating equipment.
  • Control lubricant emissions to protect environment.
  • Collect, analyze and react to production data.
  • Perform quality checks, record data, and provide adjustments to achieve product requirements.
  • Set-up and adjust equipment, , measurements etc. and monitor for consistent performance.
  • Maintain identity of product (tracking) through the process.
  • Use computer to obtain historical info. for problem solving.
  • Load and unload trucks.
  • Receive stock and approve deliveries and shipments.
  • Operate Mobile Equipment 

Basic Qualifications:

  • Training will be provided to the selected candidate! Entry level candidates encouraged to apply!
  • Ability to read and understand all warning labels, JSA and MSDS
  • Ability to be Mobile Equipment and LOTOV Certified
  • Ability to work in a team environment.
  • 1 years manufacturing experience
  • High School Diploma, GED, or 2 years work experience 
  • Employee must be legally authorized to work in the United States. Verification of employment eligibility will be required at the time of hire. Visa sponsorship is not available for this position.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Foundry or casting experience is preferred
  • Manufacturing experience

Physical Demands:

  • Lifting:  Medium - Lift on an occasional basis a maximum of 40 pounds with frequent or constant lifting of 25 pounds.
  • Standing:  Constantly (greater than 80% of workday)
  • Walking:  Constantly (greater than 80% of workday)
  • Bending and Twisting:  Constantly (greater than 80% of workday)
  • Temperature Extremes (percent of time working in non-climate controlled, production environment):  Constantly (greater than 80% of workday)
  • Noise (percent of time working in noisy, production environment):  Constantly (greater than 80% of workday)
