JOB SUMMARY:

The Information Services Program is seeking a qualified technology leader to serve as a Systems Project Administrator supervising the Database Administration team. This position leads database and enterprise data services that support the performance, security, availability, recovery, reporting, analytics, and operational reliability of mission-critical systems used by Department employees, citizens, and business partners.

The selected candidate will lead DBA team activities, establish priorities, coordinate workload, mentor staff, and ensure database and data-platform work is completed through controlled, repeatable, well-documented, and audit-able practices. This role combines technical expertise, strategic planning, operational discipline, and people leadership to support on-premises, cloud, and hybrid platforms; strengthen backup, recovery, performance, reliability, security, compliance, data governance, reporting, automation, and sustainable data management processes; and partner with application teams, infrastructure teams, cybersecurity, production control, analysts, data owners, business areas, and management to resolve issues, align services with business needs, and advance modernization initiatives across the enterprise.

The ideal candidate will have a strong database or enterprise data platform background, experience leading technical teams, and a commitment to customer service, continuous improvement, operational excellence, and practical innovation. The candidate should be able to translate business and technical needs into clear direction, manage competing priorities, communicate effectively with technical and non-technical stakeholders, document decisions and processes, and lead staff through complex support, project, audit, data quality, reporting, and modernization activities in a secure production environment.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:  

  • Work experience that demonstrates at least one year of preparation to lead database, enterprise data platform, or related operational technology services.

SUBSTITUTIONS:

  • Relevant education, training, certification, military service, internship experience, project work, or related work experience may be used to satisfy all or part of the one-year minimum requirement when directly related to leading database, enterprise data platform, or related operational technology services.
  • Qualifying background may include leading, supervising, coordinating, or directing technical staff, database staff, systems support staff, application support staff, data services staff, or cross-functional technology work; prioritizing assignments, tracking deliverables, mentoring staff, managing service requests, coordinating incidents, supporting accountability, or reporting technical work status; database administration, enterprise data platform support, SQL/database concepts, reporting, business intelligence, analytics, data extracts, data workflows, application data support, SQL Server, Oracle, Snowflake, Microsoft Fabric, Azure Data Services, cloud databases, hybrid data platforms, database availability, security, backup and recovery, disaster recovery, performance, monitoring, controlled change, validation, audit readiness, compliance, reliability improvement, technical coordination, business requirements documentation, technical work planning, support procedures, operational process improvement, data governance, data quality, data ownership, or data stewardship.

PREFERENCES:

  • Documenting standards, support procedures, decisions, technical findings, remediation plans, project artifacts, operational metrics, audit evidence, or executive and status updates.
  • Coordinating work across DBAs, developers, business areas, cybersecurity, production control, infrastructure, reporting, data owners, or management stakeholders.
  • Database, SQL, Snowflake, Microsoft Fabric, Azure, Oracle, data governance, project management, technical leadership, supervision, ITIL, service management, audit/compliance, cybersecurity, or related education, training, or credentials.

SPECIAL NOTES:

  • This position is located in Tallahassee, FL.

SALARY: The tentative salary for this position is $70,000.08 annually.
