Job Summary

Leeward Renewable Energy (LRE) is seeking a highly capable and selfdirected Origination Manager (P4) to lead commercial strategy, customer engagement, and transaction execution across Western U.S. markets, including CAISO, WECC, SPP and emerging regional markets. In this role, the Origination Manager will work directly with the Origination Lead for the Western Region to shape deal strategy, evaluate opportunities, negotiate commercial terms, and drive transactions from early engagement through execution. The role requires strong commercial judgment, the ability to independently manage multiple transactions, and the confidence to represent LRE with customers and internal leadership. This position is based in Phoenix, AZ and operates on a hybrid schedule.

Responsibilities:

Origination & Market Strategy

  • Lead origination efforts with Western utilities, CCAs, and corporate off-takers in close coordination with the Origination Lead.
  • Identify new off-take opportunities and assess strategic fit across multiple markets
  • Analyze market fundamentals, procurement trends, policy developments, and competitive dynamics to inform bid strategy and long-term planning
  • Provide insights on development risks, interconnection considerations, tax equity impacts, and merchant exposure

Transaction Execution

  • Manage the entire off-take transaction process from inception through final off-take contract execution
  • Structure and negotiate renewable energy and storage PPAs, including pricing, term sheets, and commercial provisions
  • Exercise independent judgment on valuation, structure, and deal mechanics; challenge assumptions and bring forward well supported recommendations to the Origination Lead.
  • Review and interpret financial models, stress test key assumptions, and identify commercial sensitivities that influence value and risk
  • Prepare materials for internal approvals and present to executive leadership
  • Ensure commercial structures support financing readiness, tax equity requirements, and operational feasibility

Customer & External Engagement

  • Lead customer interactions including RFP responses and commercial negotiations
  • Represent LRE with professionalism and credibility in external discussions and counterpart negotiations
  • Build and maintain long-term relationships with Western utilities, CCAs, and corporate procurement teams.

Internal Collaboration & Leadership

  • Partner with Development, Engineering, Policy, Finance, and Legal to ensure commercial structures align with project viability and portfolio strategy
  • Lead internal diligence calls and cross-functional coordination, ensuring alignment on commercial positions and risk considerations
  • Support internal approval processes by clearly articulating recommended positions, strategy, merits, risks, and scenario analysis
  • Provide informal mentorship and guidance to junior commercial staff and serve as a subject matter resource for commercial topics
  • Contribute to departmental strategy and be a trusted voice for commercial insights
Qualifications (Required)
  • 6-8years of experience in renewable energy, energy markets, project development, or commercial transactions
  • Experience leading or co-leading utilityscale PPA negotiations
  • Strong understanding of renewable energy value drivers including development risks, interconnection, tax equity, and merchant exposure
  • Proficient at interpreting and challenging financial model inputs and outputs
  • Proven ability to independently manage complex commercial workstreams with limited oversight
  • Familiarity with Western U.S. power markets and customer dynamics
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication, and negotiation skills
