The Assistant Project Manager is responsible for assisting in; overall direction, coordination, implementation, execution, control, and completion of all projects they are managing ensuring consistency with company strategy, commitments and goals.
Essential functions
ยท Collaborate with engineers, architects etc. to determine the specifications of the project
ยท Assist Project Manager with negotiating contracts with external vendors to reach profitable agreements
ยท Collaborate and communicate with the client daily
ยท Assist Project Manager in establishing the project chart of accounts, developing and updating the CPM construction schedule, developing subcontracts and purchase orders and producing a responsibility listing for entire project staff
ยท Ensure adherence to all health and safety standards and report issues
ยท Provide administrative support to the Project Superintendent and leadership and training to the project staff
ยท Track, review and process Change Proposal Requests, Change Orders, Owner Payment Applications and, if applicable, claims
ยท Monitor job costs, maintain accurate reports
ยท Manage the preparation and executing of the Project closeout process
ยท Solicit bids and quotes from subcontractors and suppliers.
Skills & Qualifications
ยท In-depth understanding of construction procedures and material and project management principles
ยท Familiarity with quality and health and safety standards
ยท Good knowledge of MS Office
ยท Familiarity with construction/ project management software (CMIC)
ยท Familiarity with scheduling software (P6)
ยท Outstanding communication and negotiation skills
ยท Excellent organizational and time-management skills
ยท A team player with leadership abilities
ยท BSc/BA in engineering, building science, construction management or relevant field (preferred)
Supervisory responsibilities: None
Physical demands:
ยท Ability to climb permanent and temporary stairs, passenger use of construction personnel hoists, ability to climb ladders and navigate work areas under construction.
ยท Specific vision abilities include close vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
ยท Use of hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls, sit, talk and hear, stand, climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.
ยท Occasionally lift and/or move up to 75 pounds.
Work Environment : While performing the duties of this job, the employee regularly works on-site at the construction work site where the employee is exposed to moving mechanical parts; high precarious places; fumes or airborne particles; exposure to outside weather elements (heat, cold, and dust conditions).
Required / preferred education or experience
ยท Federal Government Construction: 3 years (Preferred)
ยท Construction industry experience: 5 years (Preferred)
