Job description

Assistant Project Manager – Civil Construction
Position: Assistant Project Manager (APM)
Employment Type: Full-Time


Position Overview

Arreis Construction Group is seeking an organized and proactive Assistant Project Manager to support the execution of civil construction and infrastructure projects.

The APM will work closely with Project Managers, Superintendents, subcontractors, suppliers, engineers, and owners to help manage project documentation, procurement, scheduling, cost tracking, change orders, and project closeout.

Our projects include earthwork, underground utilities, water and sanitary sewer, storm drainage, concrete paving, and site development.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist Project Managers with project startup, execution, and closeout.
  • Review construction plans, specifications, contracts, and project scopes.
  • Manage RFIs, submittals, shop drawings, change orders, and project logs.
  • Track project budgets, committed costs, invoices, quantities, and cost-to-complete.
  • Assist with project schedules and weekly look-ahead planning.
  • Coordinate subcontractors, suppliers, material deliveries, testing, and inspections.
  • Request and compare supplier/subcontractor quotations.
  • Track purchase orders and long-lead materials.
  • Review daily reports and monitor field progress against the schedule.
  • Document changed conditions and assist with change-order pricing.
  • Participate in project meetings and track action items.
  • Assist with owner and subcontractor pay applications.
  • Maintain organized project records and documentation.
  • Assist with punch lists, as-builts, warranties, lien releases, and final closeout.
  • Maintain strong communication between field and office teams.
  • Project Initiation
  • Manages set-up of Project systems/Folders (Project files on N: Drive, project number, Plan Grid accounts/content, project directories, document templates and files).
  • Assists in soliciting project subcontract services and follow-up on proposals/pricing due as assigned by Project Manager
  • Assists with preparation and coordination of proposals, manuals, and presentations.
  • Coordinates and participates in all project kick-off meetings.


Qualifications


  • 2–5 years of construction/project management experience preferred.
  • Civil, heavy civil, underground utility, or municipal construction experience strongly preferred.
  • Ability to read construction plans and specifications.
  • Understanding of project scheduling, cost tracking, and construction documentation.
  • Strong organizational and communication skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word, Outlook, and PowerPoint.
  • Experience with Monday.com or other construction/project management software preferred.
  • Ability to visit project sites as required.
  • Valid driver's license.


Preferred Experience

Experience with underground utilities, water/wastewater, storm drainage, earthwork, concrete paving, site development or experience working in construction is highly desirable.
