General Summary:
The Project Engineer II provides intermediate-level project support with increasing independence and accountability. This role is responsible for managing defined project control tasks including documentation management, material coordination, labor productivity tracking, and equipment oversight across one or multiple projects.
The Project Engineer II exercises independent judgment within assigned areas of responsibility and is accountable for the accuracy, timeliness, and completeness of assigned deliverables. Formal communication with General Contractors and clients remains directed through the Project Manager; however, direct coordination with vendors and suppliers is permitted within assigned scope. The Project Engineer II will report to the Project Engineer Manager.
Preferred Job Skills:
  • Able to demonstrate advanced computer and keyboard skills to include MS Office Suite,.
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel proficiency (formulas, pivot tables, data analysis).
  • Experience with construction project management software platforms.
  • Ability to follow detailed instructions and work under supervision.
  • Ability to maintain required levels of confidentiality when entrusted with sensitive business, customer, or employee related information.
  • Ability to manage multiple responsibilities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Able to maintain high levels of productivity, meeting deadlines while maintaining accuracy.
  • Effective and professional communicator, both written and verbal.
  • Able to maintain a pleasant customer service attitude while under pressure.
  • High level of professional business acumen.
  • Reliable personal transportation for periodic site visits.
  • Ability to meet enhanced site access or security requirements as required.

Responsibilities:
Project Documentation & Controls
  • Independently maintain organized and accurate project files and documentation.
  • Track and analyze labor productivity data and report findings to project leadership.
  • Track General Contractor schedules and internal fabrication schedules; identify and report variances.
  • Prepare, submit, and track RFIs, submittals, and change orders within assigned scope.
  • Review supporting documentation related to change orders for completeness and accuracy.
  • Maintain and update progress drawings and tracking logs.
  • Ensure document control standards are followed and maintained.
  • Assist with preparation and coordination of project closeout documentation.

Material & Logistics Coordination
  • Independently coordinate material deliveries to job sites in alignment with project schedules.
  • Maintain and reconcile on-site material inventory records.
  • Develop and maintain staging documentation and Bill of Materials tracking by project phase.
  • Coordinate directly with vendors regarding material deliveries, equipment orders, and scheduling.
  • Track and manage equipment releases and returns within assigned scope.
  • Identify and escalate material shortages, delivery conflicts, or inventory discrepancies.

Operational Support
  • Support timekeeping coordination and documentation tracking.
  • Attend job site meetings and provide documentation summaries to project leadership.
  • Assist with task order breakout and quantity counts with limited supervision.
  • Support multiple projects simultaneously while managing competing priorities.
  • Maintain confidentiality of financial, labor, and operational data.

Formal communication with General Contractors and clients must continue to flow through the Project Manager.
Position Requirements:
  • License: Valid state driver's license as required by job conditions or by the company.
  • Certification: None required.
  • Education: Bachelor of Science in Building Construction or similar required.
  • Experience: Minimum two (2) years of construction project support experience.
