Job Summary:

Under limited supervision, the individual will manage activities of the Project Manager, Co-op and other support resources within the PMO to successfully execute planned construction projects assigned to the PMO Group. Responsibilities also include coordinating efforts of internal and external stakeholders to improve overall efficiency. Hours of work are typically a regular schedule, Monday - Friday, but may include weekends, holidays and irregular hours.

Main Responsibilities:

  • Promotes a positive, interactive safety culture
  • Evaluate and assign projects to maximize efficiency by skill set and workload
  • Provide direct supervision to Project Managers in an effort maximize efficiency, consistency and performance
  • Develop and implement individual development plans to improve resource skill sets
  • Participate in individual project meeting updates to drive consistency and performance improvements
  • Conduct routine performance evaluations to improve performance
  • Coordinate efforts with the Construction, Engineering, Supply Chain and Finance Groups to develop "Best Practices" and drive improvements
  • Coordinate efforts with internal and external stakeholders to drive performance and avoid project delays
  • Provide approved construction contractors with forecasted bid schedules to ensure appropriate construction resources are available
  • Participate in construction contractor bid evaluations to ensure appropriate resource allocation
  • Participate in construction contractor performance evaluations
  • Monitor project status from inception to completion to drive execution performance and to meet performance metrics

Experience:

  • 7-10 years of project management and construction management of multi-million dollar projects. Experience with electric utility projects preferred.
  • Proficient ability to be detail oriented and manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment and prioritize tasks in a continually changing environment.
  • Basic understanding of contracting approaches for engineering and construction activities. Ability to recognize and manage owner's risk related to the successful completion of a project.
  • Expert knowledge in purchasing policies and vendor selection criteria and processes
  • Computer skills: Microsoft Office, Primavera - P6, SAP
  • Certifications and/or Licenses: PMP preferred

Education:

  • Bachelor's degree in Business/Accounting/Engineering required, MBA preferred
