We are working with leadership at a well established mechanical contractor to add a Project Manager to their project management team in Cincinnati, Ohio. The company has over 70 years in business and operates across Ohio, Kentucky, and Indiana delivering design build, fabrication, HVAC, plumbing, fire protection, and service solutions to mission critical industries including healthcare, higher education, pharmaceutical, data centers, and commercial construction.
With hundreds of employees across five locations and strong multi-state operations, they offer the stability of a large, well-capitalized platform while maintaining a relationship driven culture. The company is recognized on ABC's Top Performers lists including Top Trade Contractor and Top 250 Performer distinctions and is known for its nationally recognized safety program, state certified apprenticeship program, and strong leadership succession planning.
We are hiring a Project Manager to lead commercial plumbing and mechanical construction projects from kickoff through closeout. This role is responsible for project profitability, job cost analysis, billing, change orders, manpower coordination, subcontractor and purchasing activities, and communication across field and office teams.
This position plays a key role in ensuring projects are delivered on time, within budget, and aligned with operational, financial, and customer expectations.
Responsibilities
  • Responsible for the overall profitability of assigned projects
  • Ensure proper timelines and project requirements are met across all assigned work
  • Ensure billing, change orders, collections, and related project documentation are completed in a timely manner
  • Keep management staff informed of all project issues and updates
  • Review job cost, job status, manpower, and change order reports and provide monthly analysis
  • Conduct regular and monthly job cost reviews to accurately reflect project profitability and status of project issues
  • Communicate and troubleshoot with project superintendents, construction managers, and general contractors
  • Communicate effectively with project managers, administrative assistants, and other internal departments through meetings, memos, emails, and other correspondence
  • Coordinate proper manpower and equipment for each job
  • Oversee the buyout process, job closeouts, and project change orders for all assigned projects
  • Conduct and attend weekly job site visits and job meetings
  • Ensure proper job setup, contract review, estimated costs, and schedule of values are completed accurately and in a timely manner
  • Generate project manager reports and attend project management meetings as appropriate
  • Track submittals for each project
  • Generate purchase orders for assigned projects
  • Negotiate subcontracts and purchases for assigned work
  • Perform all other duties as assigned
Qualifications
  • Years of commercial construction plumbing HVAC, and/or mechanical project management experience
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints
  • Strong knowledge of plumbing and piping installation
  • Solid math skills
  • Proficient with basic computer systems
  • Detail oriented with strong organizational skills
  • General accounting knowledge
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • High school diploma or GED required; Bachelor’s degree in Business, Engineering, or related field preferred
  • Journeyman Plumber, HVAC, Pipefitter, or similar license or equivalent experience preferred
  • Valid driver’s license required
  • OSHA 10 certification required
