The Senior Project Engineer provides project management skills to ensure the successful development and completion of projects within budget and on schedule.

Compensation

$130,000-$155,000 DOE

Responsibilities
  • Participates in the conceptual engineering development of capital projects
  • Develops project descriptions, budgets, cost estimates, schedules, and justifications
  • Assists operations with capital budget requests, selection, and approval
  • Develops and submits capital budget requests where needed
  • Creates requests for proposals, bid documents, specifications, and contracts
  • Evaluates construction, equipment, and service bids and coordinates the selection of successful bidders
    Coordinates permits for projects
  • Coordinates technical studies, surveys & site inspections
  • Mentors and manages less senior engineers and project managers
  • Works closely with vendors, equipment suppliers, contractors, engineers, and plant personnel in the planning and execution of projects
  • Manages overall project activities and coordinates members of the project team
  • Works closely with purchasing to generate purchase requisitions
  • Controls project costs by approving expenditures and tracking actual vs. budget costs
  • Controls project schedules; coordinates project meetings
  • Creates status reports with activity, budget, and schedule updates
  • Manages construction activities as needed
  • Ensures that projects are executed safely per prevailing safety standards, environmental requirements, and CPC requirements
  • Ensures that projects meet goals, specifications, quality, budget, schedule, and performance guarantees
  • Provides technical expertise in their engineering discipline
Education

Bachelor's degree in engineering

Requirements/Qualifications
  • Minimum of 10 years of experience in managing industrial or manufacturing projects
  • Highly motivated and a self-starter
  • Strong leadership and communications skills
  • Ability to work under pressure and resolve problems as they arise
  • Open to travel as required
  • Ability to understand engineering drawings and plans
  • Good cost estimating and scheduling skills

Preferred:

  • Experience in the construction materials industry
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Projects or Primavera
  • Experience with AutoCAD
  • Familiarity with SAP business systems
Conditions of Employment

Successful candidate must submit to a post-offer pre-employment physical examination, drug/alcohol screen, and background check. Some positions require Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA) registration/clearance as well as ongoing alcohol and drug testing. For work that will be performed in the San Francisco area, qualified applicants with arrest and conviction records will be considered for employment.
